Looks like a half-baked "solution". Three years??? why bother w/the investment?Jump to post
One 727 was painted dark brown w/white tail at Boeing, but the color was changed to medium blue (?) before delivery. I've seen a pic of it in Braniff: Flying Colors. Think the color was changed for bit too obvious reason.Jump to post
I vote for Dallas Love Field. DL did operate it here in early 1970s. (and it could have 'fun' with WN....)Jump to post

It was known as the "Rotten Banana" among Brazilian spotters!
It's striking and very eye-catching, but is simply looks ugly.
It's better than Braniff's Calder livery. JMOJump to post
BN did lease an AA 747 in 1978 to start DFW - LHR service. The book "Braniff Airways Flying Colors" shows a pic of the plane in AA silver with a big BI in black on the tail and titles in black near the front, plus an orange stripe over the AA tricolor.Jump to post
IIRC BN didn't have a 747 in 1969 (AA didn't start 747 service until March 1970). The Hawaii service was likely started w-707's.
If you don't already have it, get "A Splash of Colors" - a book about BN's history.
