They'll pull some dirty trick to cut pensions by 50% while share holders and CEOs are fine.
Jump to postMaybe they bought the Hooters Air name and are going to start a new leisure airline.
Jump to postThe used purchases and leases make sense given that AC has said they want to reduce their capital expenditures.
Jump to postThis has me thinking. This is very likely the third hull loss - crash? - at YHZ since 2004. The other are MK 1602 in 2004 (that's two 747s!) and AC 624 in 2015. YHZ is not such a busy airport. In 2017 it ranked 8th in Canada by passenger traffic, but not even in the top 20 by aircraft movements. YH...

Jump to postI wonder if competition from YVR has an impact on this. There are 4-5 daily flights from YVR to HGK direct (three different carriers) plus numerous 1-stop options with major Chinese/Japanese/Korean airlines. YVR is only an easy two hour drive away.

Once the 787s come on board how long does WS plan in keeping the 767s? Are they immediately gonna replace them one for one or go for expansion and keep the 767s flying to Europe?
Jump to postInteresting. I wonder what types of routes AC could run from YYZ to Western Europe that wouldn't warrant a widebody? It would seem most of Western Europe is in range? Might be really interesting on some longer very thin routes especially in the summer with less winds.
Jump to postI highly doubt the 797 is ready for service before the 767s need to be replaced. I wouldnt be surprised tosee a mix of cheap 2nd hand A330ceos and maybe some older 788s from mainline. I know they've said that they are interested in keeping capital costs lower with all of the recent output on a/c. Bu...
Jump to postLCCs and leasure airlines like AirTransat are gonna make a killing/put real price pressure on TATL/sun flights with these birds.
Curious how the MAX10 will compare.
I still wonder what AC is gonna do to replace all those(25?) aging 767s in rouge. I guess the a333 or a332 makes the most sense.

This would be a good location for a future Amazon HQ.
Jump to postThe first destination of WS 787's? That was my initial thought. They are unveiling a new livery later this week. Heard rumors it might coincide with new routes or new class of service on board.[/quote] It makes sense. There is likely good demand there and I can't think of another carrier that would...
Jump to postThe first destination of WS 787's?
Jump to postI agree. I don't see them changing names. Its a well established brand and most of their traffic will orginate in Canada. They may change their logo to make it more clear that they're a Canadian airline.
Jump to postI just wonder what will eventually replace those Rouge 767's; they are starting to get up there in age. I wonder (but kinda doubt) if AC would order 787's with maybe a lease back on a bunch of them to lower capital costs OR go with something like new A330ceos or neos with lower capital costs. Maybe ...

Does this indicate they are taking options on some additional 789s? I thought the original order was for 29 with 13 options. Wikipedia says the current fleet is 24. The 5 this year brings them to 29. So the deliveries in 2019 would be some of the options? Or have I missed something? The 24 includes...

Jump to postWhen some airlines already cram 450pax onto a 77w there is not really a need for a 747 replacement.
Jump to postSIN and BKK would be great. I just wonder how these would do? There are so many one stop connections to these cities through Asia. But I guess Canadian travelers do seem to heavily favour Canadian carriers so it might not be much of an issue if they're focusing on Canadians. With how AC has been exp...
Jump to postJust an interesting story I came across. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/bombardier-downsview-airport-for-sale-1.4486212 Apparently they are hoping to get about 900million CAD from the sale if the developer can get the rights to put some mixed used buildings. Jump to postAlso why does the 779 have a smaller exit limit? It is larger, isn't it? Already answered a few times. 77W has 5 exits (Not sure about the exact type) per side, 779 has 4 per side (It doesn't have the overwing exit). Although, like a few people already mentioned, you can add the 5th door on each si...

TPE-HKG is 502 miles and has many, many widebodies. For example, 3 different airlines flew 744s on that route today, some more than one. Not true for passenger configured. I don’t think there are any HKG-TPE B747 passenger flights. Pretty sure Air China has several daily 747 flights between there. ...

We have a national satire crisis where when we read a news headline we can no longer distinguish news from satire. I THINK this is NOT satire. http://thechronicleherald.ca/canada/1482477-toron...
