Re: Why National Airlines never went Pacific

Back then, airlines were not free to open new routes where ever they wanted. The industry was regulated until 1979. Also, National was essentially a north-south east coast airline based in Miami with some transcon' flights to California from Florida with stops en route. Yep, if memory serves along ...

Re: First NW 747-400 flight

I meant by the first International Flight. I don’t recall the flight number but, it was on NW, DTW / NRT. I was aboard and it was a wonderous experience. Last week, I flew LH from FRA / EWR aboard my first 748. OMG what a great flight on a magnificent airplane. Didn’t realize how much difference th...

Re: Why was Delta So late to the A321 game?

I assume that the 737-900 did either not live up to its promise, or the capabilities were not there when new plans were made. Delta, being an operator of A319 and 320, ordered than 30 A321 for the routes where the 737-900 did not fit and ordered more when they realized the full capabilities of the ...

Re: Emirates Announces non stop flights to EWR

I understand that DXB is mainly connecting pax and UA doesn't fly there anymore anyway. America First doesn't apply to all industries ie air transport and that is fine because our government allowed these deals. But as a Global Services member I will never enter an Emirates cabin and Dubai (IMHO) a...

Re: Xiamen Air in Seattle

I also don't understand how Shenzhen can handle an flight to North America, considering how close they are to CAN and HKG. There is no CAN-SEA service and there's only one HKG-SEA flight on DL (I don't think it's even daily). Further, crossing the border into/out of HKG is a non-negligible experien...

Re: Nature Crashes in Costa Rica, 12 Dead

Back on topic, is there any news on possible causes for the crash? Juding by the pictures, it looks like a high energy impact. What were the weather conditions in the area? I read in the press that they're not ruling out an engine failure. Now I'm also reading that heavy gusts may have been respons...

Re: What can Boeing do to get an edge over Airbus?

The 787 is the only true success Boeing have had in the last few years. 747-8I, 737MAX and 777X aren't exactly dominating the market. So this is what Boeing should build on. 787 is a breakthrough in materials and performance. It should be a no brainer to use that platform for the MOM. Why try to ke...

Re: Airbus and Bombardier Announce C Series Partnership

I am actually chuffed that the Cseries will live on!! Or does it? :/ Boeing must be smacking their heads against the table! Boeing has not only shot itself in the foot but, they have been able to reload and shoot again. This is sad and will probably go down in Aviation History as a pivotal moment i...

Re: Is the JetBlue CEO giving us some hints for the future?

So here’s a dark horse speculation.

If Norwegian is in as bad financial trouble that Ryanair has been saying, it would make a great low investment opportunity to go TATL for B6. Get a new fleet and slots in Europe ready made. Who knows? Of course, Ryanair might have the same thoughts

This documentary might be of some help.. https://youtu.be/rvkEpstd9os An interesting and disturbing documentary. As a born skeptic though, I have some doubts of the motivations behind the piece. Looks like a 'hit piece' put together by the Unions who fought hard against the outsourcing in general a...

Re: Delta CEO / Upcoming NB order comments...

He will not be viewed as unpatriotic if he doesn't buy Boeing. Airbus makes great aircraft and you need American workers to support those aircraft. Yes he will...by me, at least. American companies have an obligation to purchase American products unless it's absurdly fiscally irresponsible not to. ...

Re: Delta moves seat of Ann Coulter

It was a textbook display of what not to do by Delta. I suspect there is an employee who has lost his or her's ability to tweet on behalf of the company. I'm not sure they figured "everyone hates Ann Coulter" -- no evidence to support that -- but it would be a pretty foolish assumption. S...

Re: How many A330NEO will DL convert to A359

really disappointed in DL decision to go all out on Airbus. Must be a hangover of the former NW now DL management paired with HUGE AB discounts assisted by the EU insisting on AirBus purchases in order to approve the NW/DL merger. Really would prefer 78/8/9's to McPlanes Lots of hearsay and misinfo...

Re: Delta Finally Getting Some Negative Coverage

So we can't put our political opinions aside for a few moment to discuss Delta's mistake regardless of who was at the receiving end of it? Apparently not. Thought people could keep it more civil. There must be something we aren't being told. If she actually bought the ticket, ie: paid for it, then ...

I once flew round trip to Florida with a large MagLight in my carry on backpack. It was a non-issue on the way down from New York, but coming back through Tampa the TSA wouldn't let me proceed with the flashlight. They said "it could be used as a weapon." Yeah, OK. What, am I likely to st...
