Re: San Francisco Bay Area Aviation - 2023

Doesn't CI serve SFO-TPE 12x per week? Not just once per day.

SFO-HND is only 5160 miles or 4484nm.

Re: Is SFO int'l terminal expandable?

I agree that there is a major need for post-security food options in the G-gates area. I just want something I can pack and take on my flight instead of having to eat a UA economy meal. The only good option is Napa Farms Market, which isn't bad, but it is getting old now.

Re: Will UA ever relaunch the RTW flight?

yeah, AI flies DEL-SFO currently, but with the 77L that UA does not have. the complication with the route is not so much distance, but the technical challenges that the himalayas present. i was under the impression that at least the DEL-SFO flight was generally flown TPAC because of winds, but at l...

SFO-CVG connects well with the Asia arrival bank. CMH-SFO connects well with the Asia departure bank. Go figure.

Looks like UA jumped on WN cutting CMH-OAK and finally started CMH-SFO. Let's see how much this impacts SFO-CVG, if at all.

Did Southwest reduce service on CMH-OAK in the latest schedule update? It looks like it is Saturday only now. Huge decrease!

Re: Taoyuan airport/TPE not a competitive transit hub?

Seems like an odd thing to gripe over. The airport is way overcapacity and the new terminal won't be ready until 2023. Planes routinely are stuck in holds while waiting to land. Why complain about not growing connecting traffic when the airport can barely handle O&D traffic?

What's the plan with the 9W 787s? Are they actually going to be delivered? This order was placed so long ago.

SFO-LHR still looks like double daily 772 in the summer and TPE a 789.

Looks like SFO-TPE is a 772 for the spring and then becomes a 789 in the summer.

Re: Interesting Interpretation of "Cold Meal" and "Hindu Meal"

the term "Hindu meal" is used for those special meals that are prepared with no onion/garlic/potato, etc. because there are some select Hindu communities that avoid eating any vegetables that are grown below ground........ That is a Jain meal and United does offer that as an additional sp...

Interesting, that Hindu meal is definitely mis-catered. Per United's guidelines, Hindu meals "follow vegetarian guidelines by excluding all meat and seafood, and are spicy in content." Hindu meals are supposed to be vegetarian on UA. https://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/travel/inflight...

Re: AI plans several new long hauls for 2017

I cannot speak for AI domestic, or even AI Europe flights, but generally the NA flights have enough slack built in for AI to reach DEL on time, and often ahead of time (thanks to tailwinds). The NA bound flights are generally on time too, considering they are often the first international flights i...

I think they'll keep the 772 for TPE as long as possible then switch to 789 when the 772s are too tired to fly transpacific. With BR increasing their frequencies out of SFO soon, it might not be a good time to up-gauge to 77W or 351.

SFO-TPE is currently on a 744.

I just went through this exact process for my company. We are shipping from Asia to the USA. Like others said DHL is a good way to start. Be patient as you work with the sales teams at the forwarders. Be sure to have all the details on the goods before contacting them. Details include: 1. Dimensions...
