Re: Air France-KLM News and Discussion - 2023

Why not a split order for the A330/B777-200ER replacement? I could see the A330-200 be replaced by the B787-9, which is already in KLM’s fleet and would provide slightly more seats. Perhaps the A350 is slightly too large as a replacement? The A330-300 could be replaced by the B787-10 (already in KLM...

Re: Air France-KLM signs for up to 160 A320neos and eight A350 freighters

I thought it most likely this would be a Boeing order, untill the rumours of last week. Despite many contributers here wanting it, the A220 isn't very logical in KLM's fleet, given that the space between the E195E2 and the A321NEO can be filled with the A320NEO. Given that KLM's oldes 737 is over tw...

Re: Leeham News: An exclusive Boeing operator is in talks for A220 and A321neo

If they select the A321neo for KLM, the gap with KLC's E2s is indeed quite substantial. Is this where the A220 comes along? The E2s are leased for ten years if I recall, so that might work to replace them then with new A220-100s. Oh dear, the first E2's have arrived only this year, and the next one...

I've only flown the 777 once, last Summer on a KL 77W. While the 10-abreast was slightly too tight, I do remember it being a smooth ride and the plane wasn't all too loud. The pilot flying executed the smoothest landing I've ever had on a plane. :D The 777 truly was a game changer. It killed off the...

To me the A380 has a limited place, mainly service to strictly capacity controlled airports like LHR and too big for where service frequency more important and had 4 engines. All in all, I expect air travel to return to about 85-90-ish percent of the previous numbers in late 2020. Flying, therefore, won't be as much a luxury as it was in the 70s. But the numbers of ridiculously low airfares are also numbered. And that is actually a good thing. Firstly, most of these pri...
