In terms of aircraft age, perhaps, but cabin, nope! The 747s BA use on JFK are Super Hi J (86 J) with a relatively recent total cabin refit, Panasonic IFE, WiFi and basic mood lighting.

Pretty sure they're not, as they're supposed to be retired by 2024. The A350s being delivered later this year will have them, and a few 777s should get the new seat retro-fitted by the end of the year!

I believe some airlines rope off the stairs to disallow passengers to walk up and down them, however, politely asking a flight attendant probably wouldn't hurt! If there's economy seats upstairs (like there were when I flew Singapore's A380s) I can't see them really having an issue.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but what happens in the event of an explosive decompression? Normally, vents in/near the floor allow the pressure to equalise without destroying the floor (by it being sucked toward the breach in the fuselage), does this still apply when you have this stairway...

Hi all, just a quick question about something that's been bothering me for a while! When aircraft are being refuelled mid-air do they not encounter wake turbulence? The separations required on approaches are well documented, but when aircraft are flying much closer together, doesn't this cause issues?

Make sure if taking ET to CPT, that you choose the nonstop ADD-CPT flights...which is 6 weekly (in peak season) with 788, while there is also another 3 weekly flights with 737-800 routing ADD-JNB-CPT. Another cheap adventurous option from Europe is TAAG via Luanda (from LIS or OPO)...get a cheapie ...
