They need to fly where leisure passengers are going in the winter. Filling the planes (to get max ancillary revenue) should be first priority if they can't find anywhere with yields high enough to cover operating costs on fares alone (which seems to strongly be the case). Neither sector blocks seats. Although the flights rarely operate at full capacity anyway, it can do, and has done so previously, in both directions.

Absolutely agree.

However, Smartlynx and few other eastern bloc ACMI outfits seem to be making some decent money down there, so who knows. Fingers crossed for Norse on this one.

Seems like they are increasing their charter/ACMI work dramatically in the recent weeks.
Perhaps their saving grace would be to drop scheduled work and turn themselves into a Smartlynx-esque long haul ACMI airline

With the addition of LGW-LAS it seems they’re looking to move away from the “traditional” routes, and with them potentially looking east to hit Dubai, the leisure routes must have some potential in them.

I know it means nothing in terms of profitability, but Z0701 LGW-JFK departed with just 7 empty seats this afternoon. Unless it’s a one off, load factors must be fairly good.

For what it’s worth, PLAY crew don’t stay near SWF, they stay at the same well known chain hotel as most international airline crew do in Manhattan.
