This trip has came about as we had credit with Qantas to use up after a trip to Alice Springs had to be cancelled at the last minute due to the pandemic. Anyway I am sort of glad I didn't get there after hearing all the stories in the media how lawless Alice Springs has become. So sat tight for a wh...
Jump to postQatar Airways should fire their PR people as to me this looks like a classic how not to do it. This has backfired on them.
From what I have been reading else where, there seems to be plenty of people saying they will never fly with Qatar Airways again.
As soon as REX announced they are starting a Adelaide to Brisbane route, I decided I had to be on the first flight, no other reason apart for being the first flight. Same reason for the return flight. I have been to Brisbane before in 2014 to see the aircraft involved with the G20 meeting and in 201...
Jump to postGreat report.
From one extreme to the other. Most expensive to cheapest way of flying.
This continues my series of flights flying all the routes served by REX out of Adelaide. Flown so far to Kingscote (now stopped), Port Lincoln, Ceduna, Port Augusta and tried their 737 flight to Melbourne. Then the pandemic hit and all that came to a sudden stop for a while. The next trip is to Whya...
Jump to postYour photography is phenomenal. Perhaps unintentionally, however - the first set of shots (the Fokker 100, Fokker 50, the Qantas Retrojet, then Saab340s) was an incredible 'throw-back' and yet, beautifully modern. Well done, and please - more, and keep up the great work! Yes many older models of ai...
Jump to postEver since REX commenced 737 operations in March 2021, I was eager to see what it was like. I have flown with REX before on their SAAB 340, including the marathon Brisbane to Mount Isa milk run. Jump to postWith my last flights way back in November 2019, and a failed attempt in November 2020 when a worker at a pizza bar told a big lie and put Adelaide into lockdown the day before I was due to go to Alice Springs and fly in a helicopter around the aircraft storage facility there, which had to be cancell...

Jump to postThe usual 'if we crash don't blame us' forms had to be filled out. The launch point for the gliders was a fair distance from where the bookings were taken in one of the hangars, so after a short drive out there, it was time to strap in. Jump to postWhen Qantas announced the 747 would be retired in 2020, I wondered how I could get one final flight in. I had no plans for an overseas trip. Then the Antarctic flights were announced, but even the ‘cheap’ seats in the center rows are quite expensive and views are limited. However this year Qantas sc...
Jump to postGreat report and photos. Over the years flown to PLO with both REX and Qantaslink.
I do think you are bit harsh about REX, flown with them many times.
Looking forward to your 747 trip report as I was on that flight too.

An interesting report and photos.
Jump to postI have had pretty good success at the crew letting me have a look at the flight deck once at the gate. And despite all the modern day rules, I ended up getting the jump seat on the Air Chathams Convair 580 last year. While the antarctic flight is out of my budget, but I will at least get one last flight on the 747 on a repositioning flight to Sydney in November 2019.
A blast from the past that report. Good to read it.

Flew with Canadian North a few years ago on their 737-200. Great flight.
Quite enjoy reading these reports on unusual routes and airlines.
I have done a few of the PSO flights here in Australia and it's a great way to see the countryside from the air. You see a lot more from a regional airliner flying at 15.000 fwwt than a jet flying at 30,000 feet.
A nice report on the Qantaslink 717.

Livery is alright compared to their old livery with the paintings on the tail of the 737-200, saw some of those while in Yellowknife in 2013.
