^ Interesting proposal, but wasn’t Concourse D’s inability to handle mainline aircraft mentioned earlier on this thread? If it were converted to handle 737/767 type aircraft, would there be space for 100+ seats per gate? If they did this, would there be room for shops and restaurants? Is it really ...Jump to post
^Thanks, ncflyer. What gates do int'l arrivals use that feed directly into the current FIS? A9, A11 and A14 are international arrival gates. I am currently at the airport waiting for my brother who arrived on FI837 from KEF. The two other charter flights from PUJ and MBJ were late. The Icelandair f...Jump to post
Have a CLE customs process question: Is this the order of events: 1. Cleveland immigration 2. then get checked luggage 3. then clear customs (and agriculture if needed), 4.THEN put checked bag on a belt to go to either final destination or CLE baggage carousel 5. then clear TSA Security into Termin...Jump to post
Interesting article from OAG about the the fastest growing airports. CVG is the fastest growing medium hub (up 18%), while CLE is #5 (up 11%). I don’t remember the CLE website posting cargo data, but here it is.
Cargo is up 4.04% through March.
CLE's FIS may get a little busy this evening. There are 2 Eastern Airlines LLC/Swift 767's enroute ( 1 - 762 from PUJ/Punta Cana and 1 -763 from MBJ/Montego Bay) in addition to Icelandair 837 (738 MAX) from Reykjavik all showing to arrive between 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm this evening How many counters doe...Jump to post
They sent a second aircraft to CLE, a 767-200 out of MIA last night, which departed CLE this morning to PUJ as WQ470. The 763 that arrived as WQ471 may still be here. I was at Hopkins a few days ago and walked over to the northern end of the ticketing concourse, but didn't see any counter or sign for Wow, nor did I see any electronic signs that are used at some airports that can quickly change the airline needing counter space based on time of day. Over at FlightAware, only WOW4SM shows the accurate flight info, instead of WW113 and WOW4SJ, instead of WW114. Strange!
Looks like there's some new artwork in the FIS. I know Paul Duda and like his photography. Wish they shared a picture of the new artworks. Is one allowed to take photographs in FIS? If so, I'll try to get a shot in June, when I arrive on FI. http://clevelandairport.com/cle-displays-artwork-onsite-fe...Jump to post
I was there for the festivities with WOW last night. Just some random observations: -Gate A11 was festooned with purple and white balloons, a mini-stage, a DJ, photo booth with printer, and a table laid out with CLE earbuds and sleep masks, along with a festive WOW-themed cake (plus two large white ...Jump to post
At the airport right now for my flight to JAX (first time trying Allegiant). There’s a podium set up at Gate A11 with WOW-colored balloons. The new-style black and white signage is up in Concourse A (only C still has the maroon signs). Smooth sailing over here. Interesting that the airport's websit...Jump to post

The banjo used to be totally round. Did they carve into it, or is it actually bigger now with what is now the core of the banjo all that used to be there? Dunno about layovers, but to Iceland itself, I like the departure time on WW. Midnight means you get a full day of work done in CLE--and dinner-- before heading to the airport. Just in time to sleep. CLE's main runway was already plenty long (9,500' IIRC) for flights to Anchorage or Western Europe so the new runway construction was not needed to lure Asian cargo carriers.
