Re: Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW/DAL) Aviation - 2023

Is F phase 2 a head house, or an extension of the recently completed gates 1-4? The article clearly states phase 2 is a headhouse. It also says the project is an exercise in as cheap as possible. Gotta be more to it than that. 15 gates and a head house is a huge waste of space, particularly if E is...

Re: Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW/DAL) Aviation - 2023

The article below has some interesting info I have not yet seen: 1) F pax/bags would be processed at “new space added” at E not D; 2) a Phase 2 plan for F exists. So many questions… Is the new space at E the former ground level Delta FIS, which had a bag belt? Is F phase 2 a head house, or an extens...

This isn't just a "these days" kind of thing. I worked in movie theaters in the 90s. A significant percentage of people felt it was ok to make a mess and leave trash on the floor because people were paid to clean it up. Same has been true for as long as I can remember in stadiums. They fe...

I'm assuming the "modules" just be for the Holdrooms? The high C gates didn't have any restaurant/concession space that would have been impacted...it was just a straight addition of Holdrooms. Good question. Though they seem certain to work around the Skylink stations, I would assume ever...

Re: Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW/DAL) Aviation - 2023

I think folks have also undersold the A/C pier projects as just 9 more gates. The construction is completely additive, nothing is being demolished. The project is really 20 brand-new 738/321-sized gates with centralized concessions/bathrooms right at Skylink stations. They only occupy the site of 11...

That's my point--these changes do improve operational efficiency by increasing gate density without adding another landside terminal. And I believe they only cost ~$150 million each. Do one on each of the Skylink Stations at A and C, you've added 20 gates and enlarged 20 more for 1/4 of the cost of ...

I feel like folks are asleep at the switch on the changes coming to DFW. DP said a few years ago that DFW needed to update its design before AA would sign off on Terminal F. Maybe that, or continued use of the E140s +145s was part of trying to constrain capital spending. That was certainly their reasoning in rescheduling all 321neo orders out of 2018.
