I haven't seen this confirmed on airlineroute.net, but if true, this is great news. I've always felt that IAD was a missing hole in the Alitalia network despite all of its struggles.

This rumor sounds weird and doesn't add up. ET loves their A359 and have been putting them on their prestige routes for a while now. Perhaps for their upcoming VLA order, they're leaning towards the 779 vs the A35K. But as of now, the 359 isn't going anywhere.

JFK could work, NYC is overall a huge market so an additional 787 to the Middle East may not be overkill.

ADD, ET's primary hub, operates on roughly 3 banks (6-11 AM, 2-5PM, 8PM-2AM). If you visit the airport at any other time, it would be quite dead.
