I kind of understand the symbolic meaning of opening it on OCT29.
But I do not understand opening it exactly "60" days later on a busy New Years Eve.
Opening it on a "historically least busy period + suitable weather conditions" would have made more sense.

For Summer 2019 TK is planning scheduled 777 service to AMS 5 x weekly.
Out of the 4 daily non-stops, 2 are operated with 332s, 1 with 333, TK1953 gets 5 x 777, 2 x 333 weekly.
I did not realize that TK is going to all wide-bodies to AMS from IST.

I understand from sources that IST-EWR will commence August 2019 with a daily A333
It should be official in a few weeks.

I was hoping for 77W or 789 service but this would do for beginners.
Let’s see if this changes anything for the JFK summer/winter schedules.

I'm guessing too much pressure to open on time resulted in too much overtime. Setting unrealistic goals for a major greenfield airport is a mistake but hopefully it can be learned from. There are rumors on Turkish Aviation thread that TK's next batch of US destinations will include DFW.
EWR already in plans, SEA, MCO could be others. Nothing before the new airport opens and TK start getting 789s a year from now.

TK selected Rockwell Collins MiQ seat for the business class cabin of its fleet of A321NEO on MAX. And all this time since the first TK 321NEO delivery I thought these Business Class seats were made in Turkey by the Turkish Seat Industries. I guess, TSI only makes the Economy Class seats, correct?

TK is spending a bunch these days on producing ads. After Ridley Scott's TK commercial few weeks ago, I hear that a new commercial is in works for the new airport's opening. Just like the first one, this one is headed by an American creative team.
