One thing I noticed, compared to other water crashes like Swissair 111, Silkair 185, and Egyptair 990, this plane seemed relatively intact. Probably because it didn't enter the water at high speeds and obliterate into pieces. But still, how come the wreckage removal took basically from the beginnin...

The partner airlines' B1900s will not see the new paint job. Rumour has it that AC wants the partner airlines to get rid of them as they don't meet all the basic AC Express service standards.

Rumour has it (from some friends that fly for Jazz) that the classic Dash 8s will stay until the early 2020s for the -100s and the early/mid 2020s for the -300s. It was C-FRTW, looks like the tug spun around 180° and ended up striking the right side of the fuselage on the belly. The nose gear looks twisted by around 90°. Not sure the extent of the damage, but it'll be repaired.

Re: Forgot to raise the gear in a light aircraft?

I did my multi engine rating on a Beechcraft Duchess. The maximum indicated airspeed we can leave the gear down for is 140 knots. That means that if you're flying along with the gear up, if you're below 140 KIAS, you can lower the gear. Raising it is a different story, however, as the gear retracts ...

Why they retired the 757 in 2004 is beyond me. Orders for the plane dried up. It had an almost 25 year production run. Firstly, while the 757 is heavy, Boeing can modify parts so that it becomes lighter. I see lots of headroom for the PW1000G and the CFM LEAP-X to produce a 140-160Kn engine. The 75...
