LHR should take note and wash theirs….
Jump to postHey guys Any updates? BA World Images remains one of my favourite aviation topics … and I love collecting models of them in 1/400 scale. Take care, Bunumuring I have the Norway 757 in progress at the moment. I will see if I Han make some progress this weekend. Decals still need some adjustment befo...

Fantastic work! I've long wondered about the other unreleased phases of the project, so it's nice to finally see these images be released. I think BA had planned to release 50 images in total. If we include the images that were dedicated to Deutsch BA and Air Liberte, as well as the current livery ...
Jump to postThanks. First pass at the rework of Wunala and Nalanji with white backgrounds are done. Shown with the original versions.

That’s a nice idea, the tartans. Frontier puts different animals on their tails. Beside them and previously BA, does any other airline sport unique tail designs for individual airplanes, or did? Not special liveries, just tails. PIA had some stunning tails. Examples: 4880001 1765294 1660507
Jump to postI understand the concept was inherited from British Caledonian who were going to do this with every tail a different tartan. That would have been so awesome. I loved the Utopia livery but I get why it didn’t stick, too broad. As an aside, the idea of confusion on the frequency with pilots being tol...
Jump to postI managed to get hold of additional images of 747 designs that were not published in this thread or in the referenced article. I do not have permission to post them, but for those who are interested - I created a thread in Aviation Hobby with photos of models based on the designs shown here as well ...
Jump to postFollowing on from the thread in the Civil Aviation forum - https://www.airliners.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1473535 here are my interpretations planned tail designs that never made it onto actual aircraft, along with representations of other images that were not included in the original threa...
Jump to postInteresting to see that the "Colour Down the Side" original was similar to the "doctored / PhotoShopped" picture of 747s at T4 see https://www.designweek.co.uk/issues/13-19-april-2015/the-story-of-the-short-lived-british-airways-world-images-livery/ (second from top on a 742). ht...
Jump to postAnnoyingly i don’t think there was ever one for Wales. There was one designed, but the world tails were ditched before it was ever applied. You can see the Wales image, along with a few others that were never applied, in the June 2022 issue of Airliner world including: Variations on Colour Down the...

Jump to postI'm thinking of starting a Gemini collection of world tails. I'm pretty sure I have them all already, and all the others like Big Bird etc.. The discussion of models probably belongs in the "Hobby" forum, but I am not sure how many Utopia fans will look over there. 1:400 scale has a good ...
Jump to postDoes anyone have any pictures of the unused 'world images' designs? Some countries were noticeably absent from the original collection of World Images...no countries from Latin America and the Caribbean represented despite BA's presence there (they had an even bigger presence there in 1998-2001, ha...
Jump to postWBA on the fin all but confirms G-XWBA. The worst kept “secret” in the world.
Jump to postYes I was thinking the lower half was polished metal. All three of my BOAC diecast model 741's are like this too. They also show the entire upper cowling as white, not just a rectangular area as shown in the retro. The original engine cowlings were shorter than the current ones. I believe that the ...

Jump to post...you have summed up the problem with Utopia well. I think it was a not bad idea which ran out of control, a few aircraft tails with say the Chelsea Rose, the Welsh one, Scots themed too, most importantly it alienated a lot of customers. ....... The night before the unveiling, Concorde G-BOAF and ...
Jump to postThese: https://s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/centaur-wp/designweek/prod/content/uploads/2015/04/BA-Livery-1002x801.jpg Do not. For me, inconsistent colouring, type of image, pattern, etc. makes it 'off-brand' and causes a break in corporate identity to which airline these tailfins once belonged. Re...

Landed LHR and parked on a hard stand east of T5C along with 3 other Qatar 320s. I guess BA are trying to keep them out of sight from T5A and most of the public.

Don't know if these aircraft will serve what FR24 says they will.... A7-ADD should arrive at LHR at 8:59pm. Tomorrow then, it should go to Sofia and back (BA890/1) and then a trip to Madrid (BA464/5) I'm due to fly on BA891 SOF-LHR tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if A7-ADD is actually on th...

I have posted a couple of times over the past few weeks. The first while sitting on the taxiway during the BA/LHR debacle and more recently on the BA World tails thread. Neither post was accepted. What gives?
