Re: G-VDOT (A350) struck by ground vehicle at JFK

I am supposed to be on a Virgin A350-1000 ATL-LHR on Wednesday. First time on a A35K. Booked this flight specifically for that reason. Does an incident have a downstream impact on other A35K flights? Does VS have a spare A35K? Hoping this is a quick repair so G-VDOT isn’t out for long. Is there any...

Growing up in Detroit, I flew on a LOT of NW DC-9s. They were used going to the South and East, as well as on DTW-ORD and DTW-MSP. In 2005 or 2006 I was on a DC-9-30 from JFK to DTW and we did a power-back out of the gate. That was interesting. They didn't announce anything, but I heard the engines ...

So a bit about my history: I grew up in the Detroit Area, flew out of DTW all the time. The old Davey terminal, while it had a beautiful headhouse, was a disaster of add-on concourses. The MTOW of the current 787-9 is 254.7t, max payload is 53t and OEW is 129t, which is somewhat similar to the A330, I would say it's somewhere around 70t, and with MTOW increase it can be 75t.
