Jump to postI've done LA-SF multiple times by road. LAX-OAK (closest for me both sides) is not a huge difference time-wise and If I add family to picture, the cost savings/flexibility is super.
But then, I like driving a lot.. a lot and post dinner departure to arrive midnightish (5 hrs flat) is a nice drive.
A more appropriate comparison could be on airports which can 'gate' max # of airplanes simultaneously.
