Re: Sun Country eyeing second focus city similar to MSP

It most likely wouldn’t be CLT since there’s no available gates right now. AA has all the new gates locked down, DL squats on a ton of gates there but isn’t going to let SY use any. WN and UA have been looking for more gates there to no avail. I think it has to be a less popular airport with open r...

Re: DFW & AA surpassing DL’s ATL hub

It's good to see AA upgauging at CLT. It's truly impressive to see DL at ATL sending 752's to places like SAV, RDU, BNA, ORF and 739's to the GSO's and GSP's of the world. Not to mention the 752 and 753 lift to FL. More like a return to normal. I'm guessing you were born in 2000? The late 90s and e...

Re: Avelo Airlines News and Discussion Thread

N703VL did a round trip from HVN to ATL tonight. Perhaps a test flight for the regularly scheduled service that Avelo had plans for? why would they need to do a "test flight"? I was wondering what that was all about. It pulled up to the charter terminal near the Renaissance. A solid 20-30...

Re: New service for Gulf Shores international airport

There is no comparison between the Gulf Coast of FL and the Panhandle/AL/MS. The former gets visitors from all over the world because it is actually warm in the Winter and the latter basically gets middle income people from within driving distance. There is some fly-in traffic but nowhere near enou...

Re: The cost and reasons for building Northwest's DTW WorldGateway in 2000-2002

An equally serious problem was air side congestion. The D, E, and F concourses were placed relatively close together. This was mainly because DTW was never intended to be a hub, but also because when the E Concourse was designed in the early 1960s it was to be used by Mohawk, Lake Central, and Nort...

Re: Spirit to Launch MIA with 30 Routes

I call foul! I live in Charlotte (CLT) and we STILL have only ONE airline connecting CLT and MIA. Look at all the cities who have 3 to 5 airlines connecting them with MIA, yet the fifth busiest airport east of the Mississippi River only has ONE? I travel the world regularly and I frequent Miami, bu...

Re: American Airlines Network Thread - 2021

On a relatively few number of flights FAs will refuse to do any kind of service. On a IAH/MIA flight last month (admittedly this was Republic and not actually AA) the F FA made a "stern" announcement that he would not be doing a beverage service in either cabin. Thus dude also had on thes...

Re: AA/US Airways integration status

In terms on integrating US Airways' horrendous customer service, poor on board product, toxic employees and "I don't care attitude," they successfully fully integrated. Thats interesting, because I only get a pre-departure drink when its a LUS crew. I guess domestic F is beneath LAA people.

Re: How Has Indian Aviation Evolved in Recent Decades?

Anecdote: I remember traveling to India as a Child in 1984 and 1988. Both times, we would arrive BOM in the middle of the night (which I believe is generally still the case) at the Sahar Terminal. Our connecting flight on Indian Airlines wouldn't depart until mid afternoon, around 2pm, from the Sant...

Re: Alaska Airlines and Virgin America want your carry-on bags to be 32% smaller

For me, its not the cost, bags are free.

My last trip CLT-MCO, I checked in my bag for the heck of it.

I waited 47 minutes from door open, to getting my bag at claim in MCO. The time in the air was barely over an hour.

THAT is why I carry on a bag.

It will not be anything of value until they add a ton more of Immigration and Security lines. Going through MIA is an absolute nightmare snd horror show. I avoid it like the plague. When is the last time you've flown to/through Miami? The immigration process has improved immensely with the kiosks a...

Re: Black DR says DL F/A didn't believe she's a DR during medical emergency..

If it's policy, then it's either inconsistently enforced, or was not policy in 2011 when I assisted in an emergency in the back of an A330 between Athens and JFK. Certainly nobody asked me for credentials prior to, and when I offered my medical license after the situation had resolved, I was told no...

Re: DL pax has plane to himself

Was once booked GND-SVD on Caribbean Star. Showed up about 15 minutes early and there was nobody there. A bit of concern when I was personally paged overhead to come to the gate. At this point I thought I was holding the plane up from an early departure. I get escorted to an empty Dash 8. Once onboa...
