Nashville will also only ever have the 787-8 as the space at A5 is just too tight for the 787-9 Help me with your choice of the word “ever.” Obviously the new IAB will have plenty of room for the 789 (or any other aircraft BA chooses). The present plans for Nashville is that the 787-9 won’t go to o...Jump to post
I'm seeing availability for Silver Airways to Branson from IAH and ORD via the United web site. Service looks to start June 27. Flight 180 is scheduled to depart IAH at 9:50 am and arrive in Branson at 11:05 am. The same aircraft appears to continue at 3M 181 departing at 11:40 am and arriving ORD ...Jump to post

Nice to see WN's Louisiana One livery, but it would be nice to see some substantial growth to go along with it instead of all of this 1 weekly stuff. SJC, SMF, and CUN don't even appear to be extended into the fall and RDU, PIT, IND, and CMH remain at 1-2 weekly. They do bring back the 2nd PHX fligh...Jump to post
Based on their Instagram story, I expect it to be a state-special scheme. The sneak preview they showed has a blue front and what look to be yellow stars on the engines. Indiana One? Louisiana one I'm surprised there hasn't been one given how long they've been at MSY... Alas we're not in Eastern timeJump to post
I could definitely see NK adding BNA. They were supposed to have another new city to announce and they have been opening stations with several flights at a time. If it's anything like CMH, I'd expect some combination of MCO, LAS, TPA, FLL, MYR, MSY and RSW, maybe ORD.Jump to post
What does everyone think about new service additions for 2018? I get the sense that we might not see much, except for the new WN and NK flights that have already been announced. Looks like AS is cutting back some routes, so I hope they can find a plane to do PDX by the fall. 3M to JAX is a route th...Jump to post
CLE has been on death watch once the merger was approved. Especially with the major airport right down the street. The city didn't support the flights that co had in there, what did they expect. All we are waiting for is the funeral. CO/UA was charging absurdly high fares in the last few years of t...Jump to post
I think ACT-MSY would be an interesting proposition if Silver wants to expand more into the Southeast with the ATRs. It's a long enough distance that there would be some decent O&D (compared to DFW, IAH, or AUS) and with the codeshare could connect to UA and B6's flights to ORD, EWR, IAD, SFO, D...Jump to post
https://mailchi.mp/632fc07ca8e6/the-new-msy-terminal-update-february-2018 This gives some cool pictures of the new airport interior. I think this terminal is going to be significantly larger than we imagine. Anyone have updates on the access road construction? I have no doubt it will be a large ter...Jump to post
No surprise WN is adding a third LAX departure - it's at the top of the list for everyone who flies it. I wonder if there will also be room for a second AA or NK flight or a return of UA to the route. DEN has also been a great performer, but F9 has been uninterested and UA and WN fairly flat. I'd li...Jump to post
Not much for MSY in the WN extension as far as I can tell. LAX does go to 3 daily which is the most they've done on that route IIRC. 8 total to LAX is pretty decent. With the latest extension, WN appears to have eliminated Saturday's MSY-SAN service. The one and only daily nonstop to SAN and is dow...Jump to post
Shorter routes are actually the best way to maximize revenue. For the same amount of fuel/crew costs/aircraft utilization you can carry more passengers (whoxh equals more money) in the same amount of time. The US3 make a killing on their shorter routes where they have a monopoly or near monoply (ie...Jump to post
Yep, DL never intended the CSeries to open up these long/thin routes everyone has been talking about. That is a bad use of new (and expensive aircraft), thin margin routes are not going to cover the cost of new planes. This plan allows them to acquire the airplanes for a lower cost and put them on ...Jump to post
Well there was a credible rumor a while back that NK was poised to add 3 international and 3 domestic cities to the network this year, so I wonder if we are due to see a domestic add soon. Last time I check STX is part of the US... Yes, my mistake, mixed up the code. But the still if that rumor is ...Jump to post
Is it just me or is G4 reducing/cutting a lot of frequencies. The last report showed them reducing just about everything out of AVL, and looks like a lot put of PIE as well, unless im reading this wrong. On the other hand. I'm glad to see WN add LAX from TPA. Most of the G4 cuts are at IWA, which c...Jump to post
According to this article, the order is 16 42s and 4 72s. The 72s have more range. Is this the plane for the possible BKG service they hinted? https://airwaysmag.com/airlines/atr-re-enters-u-s-market-silver-airways-deal/ Sure it may have the range, but it's even slower than the 42. You're talking a...Jump to post
I'm surprised that daily MCI happened before daily MSY. I'm guessing that Southwest will upgauge the frequency there relatively soon, though. Surprised not to have a daily RDU-MSY yet. It was about 140 PDEW as of last spring and probably will grow with F9 on it 2 weekly this summer - much more than...Jump to post

Silver has already hinted at the potential new ATR routes.
CNN article on OneJet: http://money.cnn.com/2018/02/14/news/onejet-new-airlines/ I think it's time they get their own certificate. When you don't control your own aircraft availability and staffing you will see problems begin to surface such as inability to hold a schedule (i.e. PIT-BNA/CVG being d...Jump to post
evank516 wrote:When are the new ATRs going to enter the fleet? Should be sometime this year right?
I'd be surprised if they did much one-stop routing without significant O&D on both legs. With props it's not much faster than connecting at a hub and G4 is doing 4 weekly nonstop XNA-SFB this summer. I can't imagine there would be much demand for a BKG-HSV or TUL-SHV/LIT flight so it would be de...Jump to post
Jump to postSilver is proud to announce Huntsville, Alabama as our first new destination using our brand new ATR-600 fleet! Starting May 23, Silver offers daily nonstop service between Orlando and Huntsville
Don't forget that as the ratio of 738s to 737s increases, the number of seats will increase significantly even if number of flights remains the same. So 7% y-o-y growth is maybe 1-2% of additional flights and the rest up-gauging. I suspect that apart from PAE, it will be a lot of seasonal flights go...Jump to post
Air France is too premium-heavy to operate a 787 to MSY. This is very wishful thinking. This gets back to an oft repeated A.net fallacy that there is a market for a MSY-CDG flight because 100 years ago there was the historical tie between Louisiana Cajuns and the French Speaking Arcadians. There ar...Jump to post
Looks like the pay is in the neighborhood, but a lot of pilots are not pleased with the other components of the contract. I think it's very possible that it does not pass.Jump to post
If ISP, PVD, and TTN all lost MSY, why is the jury still out on those 3 stations and not MSY being the common denominator? Didn’t G4 just trim a few MSY markets in the last OAG thread too? One of the more sensible questions on the thread. mariner ISP and PVD are brand new markets for F9 started las...Jump to post
I thought G4 to SJU would have been possible, but after the hurricane, I don't see it happening. As for NK, I think MBJ and PUJ are possibilities in addition to SAP and CUN. They had a sort of international focus city at IAH a few years ago (only CUN and SAP remain), so I think international at MSY ...Jump to post
I wonder if NK might give BDL a shot 3-4 weekly with F9 out of PVD. It would be far enough not to harm their BOS and EWR service and has its own broad catchment area. Plus they have would have some connections on the MSY end to fill seats. I would say it would be a long shot, there are other cities...Jump to post
Given NK's growth into the New York and Boston markets, I don't think there is a problem of demand, but F9's low frequency on these smaller/alternative airports is a big problem for these types of routes. If you had to fly out on a Friday and back on a Sunday, F9 wouldn't have worked on either route...Jump to post
Hadn't they already announced major expansion plans at IND? It looks like announcements over the past two years to the tune of about $430 million had been made. Is this in addition to that or repackaging the announcement for a bigger impact? Worth noting that it's 1.5 B over 7 years. Could that incl...Jump to post
Interesting that UA is planning a club and not AA who has been growing a lot this year. There is certainly a third level (above gate level) space for a lounge in terminal A. A few interesting points - almost 8% passenger growth with only .5% growth in flights for the year (and most of that coming from cargo). Shows how much up-gauging has happened. DL was basically flat for the year, American has had strong growth, and UA was slightly up, with a big increase in December...Jump to post
usxguy wrote:So, I take it from my math skills, Silver still needs to line up financing for 4 ATR 42s and 1 ATR 72?
The big question will be how well Silver can find pilots. I suppose a transition to new aircraft bodes well for long term stability and that may help with retention. It will be interesting to see what new routes are made possible with the ATRs as well as which Saab routes no longer work with a longe...Jump to post
