Re: DL Future Expansion

Chatter amongst one of my friends who works for Delta at MCO. I don't see any way for DL to make money flying to MCO from MSY with a regional jet - F9 is daily, NK goes twice daily in the winter, and WN is 3-4 daily, plus G4 flies to SFB. Unless it's purely for mileage burn purposes, I can't see th...

Re: Indigo Partners to order 430 A320s at Dubai

I'll call it out since nobody else has directly said it: This order for Frontier is likely foreshadowing a purchase of Spirit/Allegiant in the relatively near future. 200 neos replacing about 70 ceos seems crazy, but using it to also replace the 100ish Spirit or 91 Allegiant ceo/MD80 aircraft makes...

Re: Major Air Service Announcement for PIT 11/15/17

I'm sure PIT has been working on AS for a long time now - it really is underserved to the west coast, so it may not even be Amazon related (although that helps put the route on the front burner). Odd that it's apparently starting in the fall and not summer.

Also seems crazy that the 319s are being converted to 320s. It's hard to imagine there being enough routes that can sustain 320/321 service with ULCC seating, especially without hubs/connecting traffic to fill the seats.

I wonder if it could be something about the China charter service they've been working on. I think for the purposes of transatlantic flights, the US legacies and their European counterparts should be viewed as one. RIC is a pretty high fare airport with a very small LCC presence, so NK should do well there. They have pretty easy connections to MSY through FLL - hopefully we'll see a couple weekly nonstops added eventually.
