Re: Spirit to close ACY base, open new Northeast Base

Maybe Allegiant can take over the ACY base, they got very little presence in the northeast corner of the US. They got a thing for secondary airports next to the major airports such as SFB instead of MCO and AZA instead of PHX. ACY can be their alternative to PHL and maybe even EWR. And if they're e...

Re: Spirit to close ACY base, open new Northeast Base

ACY had 10 flights today Spirit has said they want to cut Florida flying except FLL. Today they flew 4 MCO and 2 RSW flights...even with a pullback of MCO they'd probably keep 2 MCOs, run 2-3 FLL, and seasonally RSW, TPA, PBI and MYR. They'll probably hover around 5-10 flights depending on season. ...

ORF to PHL?! There is that much demand for that route when it’s only a 4.5 hour drive? Yeah I have my doubts about that one, it’s one of the easier drives in this area. I’m imagine WNs ORF-BWI solely survives off connections. From the PHL region, not only is it an easy drive but a scenic one, on Ro...

In a Biden administration, no airline mergers are going to get approved. That's probably just the reality of things right now. Whether it's NK or F9, it appears B6 is on their own for now. Could JetBlue offer to buy about 1/3 of Spirit? No slots, just 1/3 of their planes and if it can be possible, about the same ratio of staff. ILG's issue is the amount of lost-cost alternative airports in the region. Many of them have had ULCC type service for many years and some for decades.
