Re: Alaska Airlines Fleet, Network and News Discussion - 2023

I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere, but now that we're in 2023 I'd still like to ask when Alaska will leave JFK Terminal 7 and move to Terminal 8. I had read somewhere that it would be after March of this year, but perhaps I was mistaken. Any inside knowledge on this? And when AS does make t...

Re: BA Has Begun Terminal Move at JFK, More Airlines To Follow

Alaska is moving to T8 in March. While I hope that's true, I'll certainly miss Alaska's lounge in T7. Hopefully they'll work it out with AA for lounge access in T8. (I was on the inaugural SEA-JFK flight a few years ago, and we did indeed come into T8, which is a lot nicer experience than the cramp...

Re: Why do so many international terminals have arrivals corridors above the departures level?

Personally, I love getting out of the airplane after a long international flight and entering into LIGHT and AIR and lots of ROOM. After 11+ hours flying SCL-LAX, it was a pleasure to go up the escalator into that corridor through the TBIT and then down the long escalator to passport control (and by...

Re: Alaska Airlines Network Thread 2020

In other news, I see that at JFK Alaska is moving from Terminal 7 to Terminal 8 "temporarily". Any idea why this is happening? I mean, they started at T8 (I was on the inaugural flight from SEA) and moved to the horrible T7 (although the lounge is quite nice there). I can imagine at some p...

Re: JFK Terminal 8 Renovation Thread (2020)

May I ask what happens to AS? I despise Alaska's setup at Terminal 7, with the exception of their nice lounge.

Re: Can anyone identify the aircraft type shown in this photo?

It appears to be a DC9-10 series. The registration is ex-TWA, and it has the "signature" Douglas nose.

Re: 747 First Flight 50th Anniversary

August 1, 1970: JAL 747-100 LAX-HNL-TYO That was back when they had issues with the original P&Ws, and our short layover in Honolulu turned into a 5-hour delay. But it was incredible, particularly to a 10 year old making his first oceanic flight. Since then, every model except the 747-8i, includ...
