Having spotted a bit I have noticed that some ATR72-600 have the usual red beacons whereas other have a clear white beacon both under the belly and on top of the tail. Anyone know why there is this difference? Thanks

Wasn’t the "agreement" between LH (EW) and U2, that EW wouldn’t expand at TXL in favor for U2 and therefore U2 wouldn’t expand in DUS in favor of EW ? I hope they did not put that to paper. Competition lawyers would love to dig deep into a thing like that. However I am sure there’s someth...
Jump to postI agree with you on everything you say here. LCY would be s great addition to SAS' network but sadly they don't have the aircraft type for it. Wouldn't adding flights to LCY using the CRJ9 be possible? The CRJ's are not certified for LCY. The only aircraft they could use would be the ATRs from Nord...
Jump to postSAS will probably change to a new color scheme... there have been talks about it over the last week in interviews with leading people in SAS and maybe introduced on the new A350..or the new A330E coming soon Where can I read the interviews? Jump to postYou are probably right. I did however get info via a PM on this forum in Nov 2016 stating that SAA was going to operate CPH as SA266/267 operating out of CPH Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Not sure who gave you this info but the flight numbers tell me that it's not credible. SA flight numb...
Jump to postI think we will see a Q-Suite like product. Can be said to be in line with the current - forwards/backwards - hense not as such a revolution. And with QR having a fair share in IAG it would make sense from a financial point of view too aligning the hard product
Jump to postWorking in executive management myself there are a few things to consider here before slamming the BA/IAG management team. The management is appointed by the board and the board is appointed by the shareholders. So in the end a company’s behaviour is a reflection of the agenda of the shareholders. I...
Jump to postOrdering the A388 over the 748i at that time had at least to main reasons. One was the idea of being able to substitute two daily schedules into one on certain destinations while keeping seat availability, hense the high number of J and W, in order to free up aircraft to expand to new destinations. ...
Jump to postI believe LON is the largest European destination for Portlanders. I feel like the PDX - Europe market is large enough for two full service, network carries. Jump to postHaving looked at the photos of OE-LPF the window arrangement behind door 2 seems different to the other 5 777s in their fleet. Does anyone know if the ‘new’ aircraft has a different configuration?

Jump to postQatar Airways will introduce the 77W with QSuites on their double daily DOH CPH DOH flights from 28 October.
The change means a 40% increase in number of seats offered on the route compared to current 788 operations.
Does anyone have an explanation for the surprising route results at CPH in 2018: - London - 13.3% - Oslo -4.1% - Stockholm - 4.5% - Amsterdam +13.6% - Aalborg - 6.5% - Paris 0% - Helsinki +11.6% - Frankfurt -0.1% - Brussels - 12,5% - Berlin - 11.1% All routes flat or lower, apart from two big growt...

Jump to postI don't quite get EK. Seats looks very nice however this is more or less the business class QR had for years on their 777s and are now replacing with the qsuite. EK do have a solo seat on their A380s why not use that one on the 777s. Thai uses a similar seat on the 777s with works fine and would mor...
Jump to postUnfortunately you cannot be sure - other than chances are very very small. Only the new factory fresh aircraft have the new full flat business seats and I believe Brussels is the only destination currently “guaranteed” the new F, J and Y. From memory no reconfig will be done to older 777s (77L or 77...
Jump to postBillund (pop 6.300) in Western Denmark has a high number of mostly international flights. AF, AY, BA, KL, LH, SK are the legacy carriers with quite extensive daily services. Norwegian, Ryanair, WizzAir are among the low cost carriers.
Jump to postWell.... just another race to cram more seats into already uncomfortable layouts. I guess all will have the Eurowings / Swiss / LH neo config. Jump to postWith the new First and Business Class seating being rolled out, I wonder what the seat pitch in all classes are on the 'old' 777s. Jump to postA quite good load factor in itself does not always mean that a route is mature for more capacity. There is still 17% empty seats on average. Jump to postSAS call sign ‘Scandinavian’ at least used to be shortened to ‘Scandi’ both by pilots and controllers at CPH. It’s been a while since I listened to ATC so not sure if still the case.
Jump to postThis livery just does not work on the 737. It will never be favorite livery to me but I think it looks OK on the Dreamliners and the A330/A320s but this one..... nah..
Jump to postIt used to be a mix of heavy maintenance and charter during Winter (low season so to say). Assume this to some extend is still the case althongh they still have a large schedule.
Jump to postApart from LHR-SIN-SYD, LHR-HND and LHR-PVG the 77Ws are usually spread across the 777 network with few weekly frequencies. IIRC it has been so most of the time the 77Ws have been in the fleet. There may be seasonal schedules with more permanent 77Ws but otherwise they seem to shuffle around.
Jump to postThere is currently nothing suggesting that MOL is right on this one. Currently! However I do see some challenges that could potentially be a serious concern to Norwegian. Jump to postWas just looking at the average age of Austrian's fleet and many types seems to be coming close to the 20 year mark. How did they manage to end up like that? Quite sure that it was not that icy and no other reports on issues for other aircraft - BLL sees a fair amount of traffic incl AF, KL, LH, SK, DY, FR and of course charter airlines and BA franchisee Sun-Air. So my immediate thoughts are pilot error or fault o...

Jump to postMight work but AY is living on a knive's edge financially. At the moment they have oil prices with them but I am not convinced that they won't go into red numbers quickly if prices rise. They face the exact same issues as any other legacy carrier in Europe - operational costs are too high.
Jump to postSee this all about revenue. You can like or dislike the BA J class but matter of fact is that BA is far more profitable than AF and LX. Same goes with LH which also have a tarrible J class product - but they make more money too. As a frequent traveler myself, I am luckily in a position to choose and...

Jump to postWell the config change is not that difficult to understand. The 3 rows (+1 single seat) of J behind door 2 is replaced by 3 rows of premium economy in 2-3-2 layout and then an additonal 2 rows of Y in 2-4-2 is added. Likely the latter is one row between door 2 and 3 and 1 row in the back. Sounds lik...
Jump to postI am quite sure that AY won't stand a chance of winning this one. Jump to postIf you read the article in Australian Business Traveller linked above, it seems that window and middle seats won't have direct aisle access. Jump to postCrap. Those 737s of Jet Time are worn out and really in a sorry state in the cabin. I have not been onboard all their 737s but those I have been on have all been the same. So BA should get ready for some customer complaints on this account.
