Maybe they will be able to do what BWI did when they changed their name from Friendship International airport. They might try and draw more domestic flights, so that they can compete with SFO. BWI draws a lot more domestic flights than IAD does

I remember when Friendship airport changed to BWI a number of people from the Washington area started flying out of Baltimore. Did Manchester add Boston to their name before or after Southwest started flying there?

I want the cheapest ticket price available. I'll spend my money once I get to my destination. Being uncomfortable for a few hours is a small price to pay imo It depends on the trip. I often fly Australia/New Zealand to the UK. For me journeys of 30+ hours in economy are the norm. Comfort matters on...

I don't think we're going to see much improvement at all in Economy; in fact, I think airlines are going to continue degrading the product as much as possible. We're already seeing it with airlines squeezing in more slimline seats and starting to reduce frequent flyer benefits on Basic Economy tick...

Something that would make tight sitting economy passengers life better would be slightly upgraded economy food on longer range flights again. No, the original poster was correct. The airlines based their staffing planning and needs on what the CDC and other experts predicted for air travel, which was people being shy about flying for up to 3 years after the pandemic slows due to trauma and financial hardship, or possible re-surges.
