Re: What is VS's strategy in Asia?

Virgin should fly to Tokyo again, why they ever left is a puzzle. IF they can fly to Haneda especially. The competition was the same three airlines, one from the UK & two from Japan. Tokyo to Europe is not competitive for the ME3 unlike many other routes to Asia. Cos pound for pound the same ai...

Re: Reuters: Airbus likely sold 10 A330neo jets to Delta

Factually incorrect. The A359 cannot takeoff from JNB and fly to ATL with anywhere near a full load. Increasing MTOW won't help because it is performance limited due to the elevation The A359 would also leave behind some people occaisionally on LAX-SYD. huh? The 251t 339 will have about the same range as the 772ER. It can certainly do more routes to ICN and it could also do routes that see the 359/777 like LAX-PVG, MSP-ICN, etc. etc. Agreed. I'm pretty sure Boeing wrote off Delta when they tried to put the squeeze on Bombardier in court. *yes I am lumping the 77L in with the 77W because engines and the NGS mods are what has killed the world's 744 fleets. The 77L has to fund the same engines and weights as the 77W while selling ~50 fewer seats depending on airline. It just won't be competitive on operating economics per seat once ev...

The 77Ls were delivered from 2008-2010. Close to zero percent chance Delta will get rid of them in the next 10 years. The economics of flying a 77L in 2025 will be like the economics of flying a 744 today, and the capex for 359s to replace them (ULRs won't be necessary, just 280 t regular versions)...

Is Delta planning some kind of expansion or are these to replace the 772ER? I assume they will start with replacing their oldest wide bodies, PW engined 767-300 and 300ER and than start replacing old 767-300 with GE engines. I'd be shocked crapless is this isn't a replacement for the 10 359s that were deferred. Hope I am wrong but i wouldn't bet on this being a completely new order. Fuel stops are indeed assured when 33 is in use. Folks like SWA regularly have to hop over to places like ONT or LAS for fuel. One can't compare BUR and SNA.
