I wasn't aware of that. Again...if they didn't work back then, why would they work now?

Re: AA calls PHL the "Crown Jewel"

I was finally able to view the article. Hint: you can bypass the paywall with an iPad. AA has actually cut quite a bit from PHL the last year or so. It was almost one a year ago that AA announced they were cutting banks. Did they cut too much? http://www.philly.com/philly/business/transportation/Ame...

Re: AA Starting PHL-BUD/PRG; ORD-VCE; Move JFK-ZRH to PHL

Also, how many main runways does PHL have compared to JFK? I believe PHL only has 2? I've flown out of JFK 11x in the past 12 months and never waited more than 20-25 minutes to take off. But the same goes for PHL,I don't remember waiting long the times I've flown from there. PHL and JFK both have f...

Re: Extremely rare runway configurations

I live under the approach path for Runway 33L at YYZ. It's been almost three or four weeks since I've seen any aircraft on approach. Apparently they will only use it if the crosswind exceeds 20kts on the primary runways (5/23, 6L/24R, 6R/24L). However 15L/R and 33L/R are used for heavy takeoffs sem...

Re: Extremely rare runway configurations

Here are some that come to mind… JFK: *Arrivals: 22L/22R; Departures: 31L at intersection KE…no 22L departures. Happens on occasion, but not very often *Arrivals: 13L/4R; Departures: 13L. Haven’t seen this for a few years. *Arrivals: 4R/4L; Departures 31L at KE…no 4L departures. This is exceedingly ...

Do simultaneous independent IFR arrivals still require 4300 ft between parallels, in the US?

4300 ft separation for ILS, 3400 ft separation for PRM, and 3000 ft if one ILS is offset by a few degrees (I think 3 degrees, but I can't remember offhand).

Re: LHR both runways used for landing

That is not true, studies have shown that extra capacity in mixed mode would be minimal, especially compared to an extra runway. That's right. Mixed mode only allows 15% more arrivals. That's not much. It also disrupts the departure flow, especially on the 09s, if used extensively during busy depar...

They're already working on 4R/22L. It was closed for three months and just reopened for the summer, but will close down again in September.

13L/31R...I think sometime next year.

Re: JetBlue on Wednesday, May 24th, Very High Delayed flights %, Why?

Today, pretty clear weather in BOS and JFK and yet, as of 10:44 AM, B6 has over 16% of its daily flights delayed. That's insane. I would love to see them fix whatever is really operationally wrong. Sure, anyone can throw flatbed seats on a plane and offer them for sale as a premium product but runn...

Re: Why does the Canarise approach exist?

In a nutshell, it’s because the airspace is too congested. LGA and JFK are too close to each other and air respective airspace intersects and prevents full usage of the area, therefore both airport’s usage of the immediate airspace is limited. With respect to the Canarsie VOR, LGA’s airspace is in t...

Re: JFK/LGA/EWR/HPN/ISP/SWF Aviation

There is something going on at JFK right now. I'm not sure what the below message means. John F Kennedy Intl is experiencing delays inbound flights delayed at their origin an average of 1 hours 50 minutes due to runway in use Flightaware is incorrect and they've been showing that 1 hour 50 minute d...

Re: DC Area Lawmakers to Colleagues: Hands Off DCA

Also, DCA is uncongested. Unlike New York City, where the airports are slotted above their all-weather capacity, DCA is properly slotted. That's part of why it's so great to use--it's not a delay mess like LGA or EWR. DCA should stay uncongested. Once the new security stations are built, and the &q...

Re: OAG Changes 3/5/2017: AA Drops LGAYYZ,3M out of Cuba?,DL Adds DTWSNA, UA Cuts Flights

So I guess the 33s/15s will be in use more during this time? They have one runway for arrivals and one for departures. They have 456000 operations per year with unrestricted airspace around them. By comparison, JFK has a similar amount of operations with 12 million more pax per year (more widebodies...

Re: JFK/LGA/EWR/HPN/ISP/SWF Aviation

SFO's runways are only 750 feet apart and they have dual departures off the 1s all the time. Also, EWR is approved for simultaneous departures, but the surrounding airspace doesn't allow for divergent headings. JAL will fly their B787-9 to JFK in May and July on certain dates: http://www.routesonlin...

Question about SFO Ops - International Heavies off the 1s.

I’m very familiar with SFO ops (landings generally on the 28s, domestic departures off the 1s and Hawaiian and intercontinental departures off the 28s), but I noticed a few anomalies and was wondering if there has been any procedural changes. I saw a KLM 744 take off from 1R (I took a video of it my...

Re: JFK/LGA/EWR/HPN/ISP/SWF Aviation

This probably won’t work and for a variety of reasons. First of all, EWR only has one arrival path, which is from the West when going to the 4s/22s. In order to have dual stream arrivals, you need to have different paths which turn to final. SFO has this - 28R arrivals come in from the East and 28L ...
