In the case of DTW, they know they can get pax from the start whereas PIT will probably start off slow and then after the incentives are up they add more money into marketing the flight. If passenger data shows that people flying out of DTW are willing to pay premium ticket prices on even ULCCs, EI would be dumb to pass it over. From a European standpoint, EI would bode better in Detroit than PIT. I’d be kind of irritated if they chose PIT over DTW just because of market dynamics. PIT is better served in terms of competition when it comes to TATL.

If anything, they need to add poles with the TVs mounted on them. TVs on the odd side would hang from the ceiling like any other airport, but the even side would require at least 1 pole with 2 TVs in each hold area.

CLE used to be until they added a 5th daily flight and 2 mainline flights. The only destinations in the Midwest that lack mainline flights are CMH, STL, and OMA. I don't think any airport can really compete with what PIT has to offer in terms of subsidies. As of now, PIT has the best air service incentive plan among most medium and even large sized airports. Seems like WOW Premium is always sold out on flights from or to DTW. The main cabin remind only 75% full. The flight probably does well off premium.

The big discussion should now be, how are airlines going to regulate these kind of weather scenarios? I've taken off in similar circumstances from MCO where we've dropped due to a strong downdraft in a storm cell. How will this be regulated so it doesn't happen again?

Again, it's a tactic. If I was an airline looking to buy a new plane, I'd plaster it all over so that Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier, and Embraer all get into a fight and offer the best deal. In turn, that's what is keeping costs low.

If I may ask for the 100th time, if DTW-LHR is a lackluster route, why minimum ~$900 RT for off-peak/advanced booking and $2800 RT walk-up prices. DL should offer $399 RT to improve loads. Why would DL fight to defend p2p routes like IND-MCO/RSW? No point to defend them since IND isn't a hub.
