Re: Garuda forced to reduce domestic ticket prices 20% per Gov't

As trent768 mentioned above, since Sriwijaya Air (SJ) managed by Garuda it become an almost duopoly for domestic market in Indonesia. Ever since Lion Air recently introduce check in baggage fee with expensive price for IDR 150.000 per 5 kg block, add to the expensive base fare it becomes ridiculousl...

If they axed BNE which is a bigger market then it's not surprising they axing DRW. I can only hope no more routes cancellations.

I think Thai Airways is underrated. My experience with TG was great. Their economy class is one of the best.

Great for them expanding in Europe. Adding Stockholm , more frequencies to Rome and to Paris. I guess it will be a daytime departure from SIN. I agree that they should use A350 though.

I truly hope they really fly to Medan as the choice for international connections are rather limited to MH and MI (Silkair) and AirAsia. Medan is definitely a growing market.

Can 777@3-4-3 and 787@3-3-3 Y seating on JAL birds be far off? -ir Frankly I'm surprised that it hasn't happened now! Mark my words, unless the 777s and 787s are reconfigured, these extra-wide seats are eventually going to cause JAL to bleed money. Why would you expect JAL to lose money just becaus...

Based on airlineroute.net they will operate A350 to DXB from Nov 2016 and to SIN. No announcement about LHR yet.

Re: Cathay Pacific announces capacity review

CX needs to deal with (1) growing threats from growing Chinese carriers which are flying more intercontinental routes, (2) its own high cost base in comparison to Chinese airlines, HX/UO and even the re-energized American airlines, (3) slowing economy of China which cuts demand, (4) improved busine...

Re: SQ to launch SIN-CGK-SYD

Not so sure it's a good idea. Low-cost traffic from Indonesia will fly Malaysia and Air Asia X via KUL. Corporate traffic will just continue to fly GA. And GA is a very good carrier. You're clearly not aware just how big the population of Indonesian-wealthy are! And just like the wealthy in other p...

Re: Garuda Indonesia is planing Jakarta - LAX in 2017

Importance does not constitute viability. If airlines flew routes purely based on importance, then we'd see routes like LAX-BKK, JFK-PPT, DXB-PTY and EWR-SIN still in existence. The reason why SE Asian airlines are scrambling to fly to the US, no matter at what cost, is driven by politics more than...

Re: Malaysia Airlines recovery plans

How about at least looking like you actually care about finding the 777 with 239 SOB that you lost over 2 years ago? That would be a start for MH. Some more effort to assist the families of MH370 pax might also help. People, even many of the less frequent flyers, don't forget airlines losing planes...

I like MH. I really hope they keep the A380 though. 6 A380 and 6 A350 sounds great combination for me but I can only hope. If they're going to introduce premium economy on A350 then they probably will be the first 4 class A350 operator.

Re: Is/Are MH's B747-400(s) still in service? They activated 1-2 for the KUL-LHR-KUL run right?

It was reactivated and repainted at huge expense (rumour says the CEO Christoph Mueller left after discovering it was signed off without his knowledge). It was planned to operate some flights to LHR, but that was cancelled (only one A380 was in for maintenance and the 747 was never needed). They al...

Re: Srilankan to axe Frankfurt and Paris routes

Rome was suspended months ago and now CDG & FRA. Too bad as they're quite competitive from SE Asia (KUL,BKK,SIN) to CDG, FRA and LHR in terms of pricing, schedule and hard products.
