Apology in advance - this is not news, just wishful amateur thinking... With the first 788 routes coming to PHL in Jan 2020 (as of now) replacing a mix of 767 and 332 routes, I still wonder if AA will use of subfleet of A321neos as a 757 replacement for thin TATL routes, perhaps with ~16 lie-flat bu...

The approved redesign is illustrated in Figure 2-1. Unfortunately, t...

Additional 788s s...

This gives them lots of breathing room for growth - they could expand new cargo into the space, move UPS there and put in an additional runway (or use it to replace 27R), they could move economy parking there and add a Terminal G AND move most of the Cargo City facilities there to put in add a larg...
Jump to postNot sure how this would play into this, but isn't Philadelphia still on the shortlist for Amazon's HQ2? This could be a way of bolstering the city's bid. I am highly skeptical the ability of PHL to accommodate new cargo facilities would have any impact on Philadelphia's HQ2 bid based on the timing ...

Jump to postPHL-DFW is 3x weekly, A320
PHL-IND is 2x weekly (MF), A320
PHL-GRR is 2x weekly (MF), A320
FIrst time F9 will serve DFW and GRR but they did prior serve IND from PHL for one summer season two years back.
IND and GRR will be the only F9 flights at PHL that are less than 3x weekly.
Again the gist is true but this is very exaggerated. See my post in this thread from 2 weeks ago. The 2018 numbers are the lowest since 2004 or only 13 years ago (not 20-25). Also the 2017 passenger number should be around 29.5 million. PHL's annual passenger count has been nearly flat over the las...
Jump to postPHL is going to see the lowest passenger total in the past 20-25 years. But 2018 will be somewhat of a bounce back year with 4 new international flights. Jump to postI think the AA PHL-JFK flight isn’t *worse* for anyone, it’s just giving NYC travelers better international options from their PHL hub. Jump to postA third runway is not really an option. You have I-95 on one side, the Delaware River on (basically) two sides, and quite a bit of industry all around. DL inherited the PHL-CDG route from Air France, since DL flies 752s and AF doesn't, and that's how much traffic the route could support. That after a few years of seasonal trading off between DL 752s in winter and AF 744s in summer. Terminating this route entirely in summer strikes me as very odd. ...

ORD-VCE and PHL-PRG/BUD are seasonal right?
These routes sound like slam dunks, if they are only operating for 4 months a year.
Not sure if its news or not but it appears that in addition to JFK losing one of its flights to CDG, Boston is also losing its seasonal service to CDG.

Since the merger was announced, I always felt AA would eventually focus its northeast hub, and TATL gateway, at PHL. With some JFK flights possibly shifted to PHL. Looks that is happening. AA/US continues the merger tradition of closing, or significantly cutting back on a hub and in this case it's ...

Jump to postThis is what I had expected the day the AA/US merger was announced. However, there has yet to be concrete examples of this so I will believe it when I see it. Both the supposed two new transatlantic routes from PHL in S18 as well as a larger push for AA passengers to fly int'l through PHL over JFK.

Jump to postAfter the swap of BA to AA metal this spring, the total seats went up 100 or so per day between the two. It is now flown 2x on AA 333s and 1x on BA 747. I believe before the swap it was 1x AA 333, 1x BA 772, and 1x BA 789 on most days.

Jump to postF9, as said, is likely but as for new destinations - top F9 stations include DEN, MCO, LAS, ORD, ATL, and PHL. Of these, OKC does not have service to just PHL. They also do not have service to CLE and CVG as well as MIA and TPA which are also warm weather stations.
