Perhaps a better choice for Azul would be Boston with its large Brazilian population and no flights to the Sao Paulo area.

LATAM flies 5x weekly GRU-BOS with a 767.

Wow. A 737-8 to 767-400 is a big upgauge!

An A330-300 was also used. I was expecting that Delta would block Delta One seats, but I've seen reports of passengers flying Business. So indeed, quite an upgauge (and a treat amidst this chaotic week).

Re: Azul Signs Non-Binding Agreement to Acquire Selected Assets of Avianca Brasil

I would question how meaningful the AA/JJ and UA/AD tie-ups are, wrt: the necessary capital expenditures for DL to make this move. AA can and does fly passengers on it's own metal for any Brazilian market(s) that support it. AD also codeshares with B6 and from my local market at least, will route y...

Re: Azul Signs Non-Binding Agreement to Acquire Selected Assets of Avianca Brasil

From January to October 2018, market share (as of number os passagers), was:
Latam 29.4%
Gol 28.2%
Azul 19.4%
Avianca Brasil 10.6%
Others 12.5%

Though this is not a merger and still subject to approvals, a combined AD+O6 would hypothetically be the largest Brazilian carrier by number of passengers.

Re: LATAM A350s - Routes & Destinations

Historically, Latam's A350s (PR-XTA, PR-XTB & PR-XTC) have been deployed from GRU to MAO (for crew familiarization), MAD and MIA. CDG service started April 2017, alternating with 77W. From OCT 28, all 77W. Then back to daily A350 from MAR 25. JFK service started on SEP 30 alternating with 77W, a...

Re: AF (Joon) and KLM to serve Fortaleza, Brazil

GOL's chief is especially interested in giving convenient access to Sao Paulo with CGH-FOR-Europe. That shows this is not just a play for inbound tourists to Ceara. I don't see 2 or 3 weekly flights from each carrier having much impact on the São Paulo market to Europe, there are already direct fli...

Re: LATAM + IAG JV gets regulatory approval in Brazil; outlines 4 concessions

Hmm. o6 would be an interesting choice. Haven't they had problems getting A330s or something? I think Virgin may be it. As the Brazilian economy rebounds, VS may want some of the new/restored business. My guesses for the new LATAM routes are BSB-MAD and GRU-LIS. From what I gathered, the first run ...

LATAM + IAG JV gets regulatory approval in Brazil; outlines 4 concessions

CADE, Brazil's competition regulator, has approved the proposed JV between LATAM and IAG. After being rejected by CADE back in November, several meetings and conversations took place between the parties, as well as Avianca Brazil O6. All public documents are available here: http://sei.cade.gov.br/se...

Re: Why are there no HKG-TSA flights?

This has been asked publicly but the previous Taiwanese Government explicitly said they will not allow that. TSA would be restricted to HND, GMP and SHA. They also explicitly stated why no TSA-HKG. They said TSA is so convenient and HKG can provide so many international connections that if they all...

Why are there no HKG-TSA flights?

Considering that Taipei Songshan Airport – TSA connects to major and minor airports in the region and is convenient for business-related travelers, why are there no HKG-TSA flights? Is it lack of airline interest (Cathay, Dragon, Eva, China Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines...), slot restriction at TSA o...

Re: Brazilians select AA as best foreign airline in Newspaper Poll

Sure let's pretend that list has any correlation to air travel volume, considering no airline flies nonstop to LAS or SFO from Brazil but there's tons of nonstop service to LIS and MAD. They do get to SFO and LAS some other way, right? Could be ATL, DFW, LAX, IAH ... And: They only polled Paulistas...

Re: Brazilians select AA as best foreign airline in Newspaper Poll

What you're describing is "most popular foreign airline", not " best foreign airline". This is the only thing you are right; the rest is uninformed and prejudiced remarks. Without access to the survey's questions, we can only have an educated guess on what the "best foreign...

Re: Singapore Scraps Brazil

If CA leaves will there be any carriers from Asia east of Dubai? In any case, South America is one of the few pockets in the world where India's cultural presence is fairly limited. Indians make up more than 40% of Guyana's population. That's about 300,000 who descend from those who came between th...
