Airbus and Bombardier Announce CSeries Partnership

Google maps link

It’s next to the delivery center. Kind of between the main fal building and delivery center.

Re: Airbus and Bombardier Announce CSeries Partnership

Either Mobile is going to ramp up past rate 4 for 321s or they are already planning for C series production, because they are clearing and grading land right next to the FAL for more hangars/buildings.

I’ll see what I can find out.

Re: The Great Aviation Depression? And Tips To Become An Aviation Techician.

Its still a good career if you plan well and look out for yourself. I started my aviation career at a small fbo, then joined the military for experience and schooling, got my certs/licensing done and paid for. Got out after 9 years to land my dream job near home. If you want to be an aircraft tech, ...

Re: Airbus Mobile - Production/Delivery Thread

That particular picture is not from the FAL in Mobile. All of the aircraft jigs in Mobile are painted white. They were traveling to either Hamburg or Toulouse. And I have no idea what airline that is for.

New York Times article on Airbus Mobile FAL

Decent piece on the Airbus FAL in Mobile, AL. Lots of great pictures inside the FAL and also inside the half assembled aircraft. Author touches on some political topics, and the hourly wage data is completely wrong (I know a lot of people that work there) but the main reason I shared is because of t...

Re: Airbus Mobile - Production/Delivery Thread

Seems like the process is now working quite smoothly at the current rate. Next challenges are to ramp the rate up and to prepare for the neos which I believe will start coming down the line in 2018. I thought so too but I found this article which suggests Mobile will switch over to the NEO before t...

Re: When will Delta fly the A321 to other hubs?

It seems pretty odd the DL would get 321s w/o a center tank. Not sure I buy it. I can't speak for the frames from Europe but I can tell you with 100% certainty the Delta A321s from the Mobile FAL do not have ACTs installed. Unless you are actually talking about the center fuel tank that is part of ...

Re: Advice for AP Contract work

Sorry to hear about the layoff. I went through the same thing and did contract A&P work for 2 years while I was in between direct hire jobs. I've worked in Mobile AL, Dayton OH, and Lake Charles LA. Before all of that I was in the military working on helos, small jets and turboprops so very simi...

Re: Delta A321s -- aux tanks?

As I understand it, installing ACT's on the A321 is a trivial procedure. Maybe not something to be done between flights but easy nonetheless. If the hardware and plumbing for the tanks have already been installed and tested, then yes they can be installed overnight. However if you are talking about...

No extra tanks for the Delta birds. I apologize for the misinformation from earlier. There's a lot going on right now and I mixed the serial #'s up.

Re: Delta A321s -- aux tanks?

I remember reading, a couple of months ago, that Delta's later A321s (those assembled in Mobile) will feature auxiliary center tanks, potentially enabling transcon operations. Is that still the case? Although DL's current plans for the A321 don't take the aircraft very far afield from ATL, I'm curi...
