9 hours for an empty NG makes sense. Might not even need aux tanks.

WN flew a 737-800 NG from HNL-DAL which is 7 hours during ETOPS certification, and I heard they landed with over 2 hrs of fuel left. And I think they had 25 people on board (FAA etc). Amazing what you can do eastbound
