This is exciting news. By late 2019 AA will start receiving more 787-8 - a great replacement for some of those TATL 767 PHL flights.
This will finally give AA a good product in ZRH market, and with the 788 a low premium configuration it makes sense to use this on MAN and the 332 elsewhere.
What is the possibly of CX going more than daily on their flights to and from Manchester and London Gatwick? They already serve Heathrow 5x daily and is it likely too that they will add more frequencies if slot weren't a problem? If I remember correctly, they acquired QF's and NZ's slots when they ...Jump to post
No pilots based in PHX are A330 qualified. I doubt that matters. Someone said above this could be a swap for RDU. RDU doesn’t exactly have a crew base either. If something like PHX to LHR did happen it wouldn’t surprise me if it was on a 772 or 787 as the flight (and possibly crew) would operate as...Jump to post
I get them moving LAS to LHR. There is too much capacity and competition at the moment. It’s ironic as BA have just added back LGW-LAS. I think a smaller aircraft and out of LHR will help them improve yield on the route - just hope they can fill that larger premium cabin. I am surprised they are dro...Jump to post
I am always skeptical of these clams by Delta including no 'mainline cancellations' in the past. I recall a DL MSP-LHR flight delayed over 24 hours. It eventually arrived at LHR past curfew over a day late. In most normal circumstances that flight would be deemed cancelled. DL extended the delay in ...Jump to post
If BA can operate daily to ISB with a decent plane and a decently priced ticket, there will be no way for EK and PK to compete. PK no, but EK will definitely be able to compete, although if BA doesn't screw this up with a shitty plane and overpriced ticket, then it will have the nonstop advantage. ...Jump to post
Hello, Can anyone give any information and context to the LATAM A350 fleet and where these are being deployed to from Brazil? I know several are leased out to Qatar Airways at the moment. Is the plan to bring them back into the fleet? I am also wondering specifically if they are to replace the 77W f...Jump to post
This is less about product alignment and more about product enhancement in order for DL VS to offer better J products across both airlines. I don't think DL's 767 get a great rep and they are up against the likes of AA's J etc. If DL want to be a player on LHR JFK they need a better product - especi...Jump to post
I think it's important to look at the whole picture when assessing a potential new BA destination in the US. I think this discussion is too weighted to the US side/demand of things. We need to take into account the UK/EU end of the route. I think most or all of the cities mentioned in this thread (P...Jump to post
I am really impressed with ACs expansion recently - those 787s really have transformed the routes the airline is willing to open and operate. Great stuff! Can someone clarify the LHR expansion from YVR? I thought AC had previously expanded LHR to double daily or was that only seasonal or already red...Jump to post
pasu129 wrote:DUB-HKT? Who's going to Thailand via HKG?
This is exactly what I was thinking. BA should end the LAS-LHR route and shift the flight permanently to LGW (can run two a day if necessary). That would then open a precious LHR slot for BA to use elsewhere. Why is it a given the LAS is a poor performer? No, what we are saying is it makes no sense...Jump to post

Great to see more long haul BA expansion from LGW! YYZ seems like a good option to capture extra peak summer demand and compete with Air Transat/West Jet/Air Canada Rouge whilst keeping the LHR services more premium. LAS also seems sensible -it's good for BA to serve this market from both LHR and LG...Jump to post
If say the rumors on the other forum are true about PEK, DPS, and DUS dropping at the expense of CPH, BRU, and DFW/DUB, then how does CX rearrange its fleet utilization and scheduling? PEK and DPS are typically A330/773 whereas the three rumored additions all require either a 77W or 350. Where do t...Jump to post
1: B.... 2: C.... 3: D.... (this country can't make beer!!) People said it is DFW,,,,, By the way, PEK and DPS will be transfer to KA and LGW will transfer to LHR, Where has the rumour of CX moving the LGW to LHR come from? I don't think that is likely. CX have been successful at LGW and have incre...Jump to post
Ok, news is CX will terminate 3 destinations and add 3 new ones. - Destinations being terminated are 1 in China, 1 in SE Asia and 1 in Europe. - 3 New Destinations are Bxxxxxxx, Cxxxxxxxxx and Dxxxxx. Let the speculation begin! YLWbased CX will likely only really terminate one destination and that ...Jump to post
While the flights might mainly transport Chinese tourists, I think this assessment is wrong. We are talking about service to huge cities here. Way larger than London actually. The 1.3 billion Chinese people are not only living in Beijing and Shanghai. City & inhabitants: Qingdao 9,046,200 Xi'an...Jump to post
In don't think this is possible as presented in the press release. DL already ownes 49% of VS, thus reaching the maximum allowed ownership under EU rules. Then DL cannot own more of VS indirectly via AF/KL. :? DL is not changing the percentage of ownership in VS. This will remain at the maximum of ...Jump to post

I saw a UA 77W on Saturday at BOS. They certainly are flying around the system.
LHR has seen them on occasion from different hubs, but what is the likelihood of LHR becoming a permanent route - at least in the summertime, on say SFO-LHR? This is currently operated by 744 during the summer months.
The VS 744 is temporary back at LHR due to a temporary aircraft shortage as a result of a 787-9 tech and an A340-600 tech. The only slack in VS fleet right now is the 744 fleet which is why on occasion one is ferried over to LHR when aircraft go tech. This is separate to A330 refit which has had min...Jump to post

It is interesting how active CX is getting in EMEA: Manchester, London-Gatwick, Dusseldorf, Madrid and now Tel Aviv. It seems they are lauching more routes than the ME3! They needed to. Prior to recent Europe expansion, CX footprint was fairly small compared to other Chinese/Asian carriers. TLV is ...Jump to post
AY is already on the 5x weekly plan. Found myself on one of these planes the other day, and the gate staff indicated that this is what they're doing. Just curious, why did BA stop se vying MNL or did not resume services to MNL even PR started their own direct flights? Whilst made in the same announcement, at this point the Boston service is still scheduled to operate with 4 class 777-300ER aircraft, and is just an increase in frequency. In my honest opinion, Detroit to Manchester was all a rumor, and will not be happening at the time being. Virgin have increased Boston to 3 weekly when it launches next summer. There will be an extra flight on Fridays when the 6th based aircraft joins the base in July 17. 6 aircraft? As Zeke says, KA do not really have much of a lower cost base. Many of their pilots are paid more than their counterparts at CX.
