Re: US CBP stationed overseas, who funds it?

Are the immigration officers based there on secondment? I guess they have to bid for it and it goes popular? Do they have housing and everything paid for? Yes, officers are based in country for 2-5 year assignments. They must apply and be "hired" for it. All are journeyman level (and supe...

There is a good amount of traffic between Africa and Canada and then even more with connections to the US on this flight. There is a good amount of this flight that is in transit to the US when it comes in... Bags do not need to be claimed in Canada for connections to the US, though US CBP officers ...

Terminal D is the next big project at IAH. I'd love to know what happened to the B North renovation plans as well as the B FIS. Slow down in travel or not, another FIS is needed at IAH. Although most of the congestion in the current one is due to CBP staffing (80 positions and only ~15 are filled o...

the purpose of the pre clearance is to push the effective US border as far away from the actual US border as possible. ....which completely explains why the likes of YYZ, YVR, YYC, YUL, BDA, NAS, STT, etc would be pre-clearance, right?. ;) Most of these agreements date back to the 20th century. How can this possibly be justified? There are what, 2-3 daily fights to the US from each airport?
