Always wondered why the Superhub is so busy at night if the temperature is not that hot during the day. I've heard that there is a plane arriving or departing every 40 seconds during these hours! Is it a logistical or physical reason for peak rush during night hours?
Desperately trying to avoid flying an empty A380 on such a long sector just to reposition it. My guess. EK probably had a dozen of them sitting on the tarmac! There's no way on earth that they would've had a hard time finding a spare A380 in DXB, unless for some odd reason they were hesitant to bor...Jump to post
Will be interesting to see two competing feeds, UA at DEN and BA at LHR. The interesting thing is that in terms of connections, they actually compete in different markets. That said, DEN-LON is getting crowded! Not too long ago, it was just BA and now it's BA, DY, and UA!Jump to post

If it's just 5 a/c, TG is not out of the realm of possibility and is probably the most likely out of the three if they can get a good price. NH hasn't even gotten theirs yet so I am extremely skeptical that anything will materialize until then. IAG is the least likely because their is no business ca...Jump to post

What are you asking exactly? Have people landed on runways that aren't used much or what do you mean by rare config? I'm newer to the forum so maybe I should know what you mean but I don't. Runways configs that are exceptionally out of the norm for an airports normal ops setup. I just commented on ...Jump to post
Thought I'd go ahead and start two I know well: TPA: 10/28 (Never landed on this one despite being my home airport, but saw it once) ISB: 12 (I got very lucky on this one, snagged it for the first time in all my years of flying here a week ago, and the airport is closing next month! I'll try to post...Jump to post
So as many would know, AUH has delayed the opening of the midfield complex to 2019. Does anyone know if this referred to the early or later half of 2019 and if the project is far enough along to have a reasonable possibility of opening in 2019?Jump to post
Etihad must have really DEEP pockets to go down this path, their 49% hasn't really been a winner for them. Yeah, but after investing so much into AZ, they're committed to seeing it succeed at whatever cost it takes. Any money pumped into AZ is better used to finish the job than to write off EY's pr...Jump to post
Will be interesting to see if the new gates for partner airlines *cough* Emirates *cough* will be A380 capable. JetBlue has quite a large number of partner airlines, and if all of them used a new T5 extension, it could very well create a new Int'l terminal altogether on the T6 site.Jump to post
Interesting. In US English slang, "boost" is to steal ( http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=boost ). Not sure if this is the angle they're going for, but perhaps they want people to think they're getting such a good price it is a steal? Maybe Urban Dictionary isn't the best sou...Jump to post
Interesting. Let's see if AAB is interested in adding a few 748i to that order.

I have a pic but this is my first time post so if anyone can give me a clue how to insert it I'll be glad to. Upload it to Flickr, copy the URL of the image itself (download it, there's a downward arrow in the bottom right corner of the image). Paste it here using the image button, right of the quo...Jump to post
I kind of see this as a major fail on the part of the legacies if Norwegian starts DEN-CDG before either Star or Skyteam. The only legacy carrier that's actually been starting new TATL routes is BA and that's to keep out DY. So far, it seems to be working, but AF is a sitting duck. I can't remember...Jump to post

I recently emailed Ed Bastian about the possibility of MCO-LHR. I got a response: "Thank you for your recent e-mail to Ed Bastian regarding your interest in a potential Delta London (Heathrow)-Orlando operation. Our Network Planning team is constantly evaluating opportunities to maximize Delta’...Jump to post
How did this get approved? What were they thinking!?! I was cringing at the dry humor and could barely finish the video!
This is kind of a side tangent, but I've always wanted to get a picture like the cover photo for up in the air, which was of a 744 in DTW. Since DL is also accelerating their 744 retirements, I probably won't be able to get to DTW before then. Anybody else know what other airports could offer a simi...Jump to post
Recently flew EY back to the US and have mixed opinions about the preclearance facility at AUH. It speeds up exit in the US but complicates the departure. Does it actually offer EY a competitive advantage and was it built more as a result of US or UAE desire?Jump to post
Excited to see the project finally reach completion in less than a month, knowing I will fly into it soon. Hopefully they can decide on a good name as several have been floated around for some time now including Gandhara Int'l and Liquat Ali Khan Airport. Let's see what they decide! https://www.paki...Jump to post

If Norwegian comes to Tampa, I'd be surprised if it was anything other than Gatwick. TPA already has LGW. I don't know if Norwegian has ever launched a destination with CDG before LGW but it would make much more sense to start a new route than split it with BA. They've already started CDG from MCO ...Jump to post
This is an extremely naïve question, but if one wants to fly QR from a non hub city post the AA cut, how would you connect? EK funnels through B6, EY and QR had AA. Now both EY and QR are at the same level of connectivity as PK without AA! Anybody have an answer?Jump to post
At LHR, runway use for arrivals and departures alternates at 15:00 every day and flips between weeks. How heavily is this actually used in practice? Can you actually predict which side of the plane to be on for takeoff (BA for me) or in the case of other airlines does it always fall to which is clos...Jump to post

Breathed a sigh of relief when I read "second destination in Florida." For those who can remember, Edelweiss launched TPA at the expense of MCO which was cut. For a moment, I was under the impression that they were going to move back to MCO and cut TPA but it's good to see they're keeping ...Jump to post
Come on guys, read the article, it literally explains why they had $4000+ cash. The pair had splurged on some expensive items in France and had just received their tourist tax refund when they left the country. I was recently looking through the UA901 flight logs and couldn't help but realize how frequently this flight arrives over an hour late. On top of that, this is LHR, one of the busiest slot controlled airports in the world. You would think UA would make it a priority to meet the slot at that expensi...Jump to post

This is a textbook case of why protectionism is a bad idea. It preys on the fact that the other side will suffer, but when you're on the receiving end of that game, it hurts. Etihad and Qatar are definitely not making any sort of meaningful profit but there's no question that EK is and that's who DL...Jump to post

I'm surprised so many on here lack the strategic sense to see that the US3 aren't really very concerned about the US-Middle East market. They're VERY concerned the ME3 will trash trans-Atlantic yields with fifth freedom flights from Europe to the US. They're trying to get ahead of the threat instea...Jump to post
