The articles I have read all point to the standard A359 rather than the ULR so this non-stop does seem geared more for cargo operations. I don’t think passenger demand (especially premium pax) exists in significant numbers at the moment to warrant blocking seats anyway.

APM is a requirement for any proponent pursuing a project in NAIA, otherwise MIAA would continue doing the O&M and capacity expansion themselves.

If Megawide (or any private proponent) eventually gets the project approved, then there will be an APM.

PR's 77W (RP-C7773) that was ferried to VCV for maintenance a while back has immediately returned to service, taking over RP-C7772's return leg from LAX, landing back in MNL a couple of hours ago. RP-C7772 was ferried LAX-VCV earlier this morning.

So I guess the 77X is and will still be considered a Code F aircraft on the runway... a major impediment the A380 and 748 faced in a few airports where problems with runway operations were much more considerable than the limited gate infrastructure/space.

I would presume that an increase in cruise speed would entail more work than is sensible for Boeing... A difference of a Mach 0.01 in cruise speed is purely for marketing purposes anyway. For London to Sydney, that equates to just around 13 minutes less cruise time at 35,000ft.

My guess as an amateur is that you can fly pretty fast with gear down if you want because of the thin air up there. The increase in drag coefficient (due to gear down) and squared increase of speed would likely outweigh the decrease in air density, which would make the 777-9 gear-down setup still h...

For a 15-hr fuel tonnage and presumably full passengers and baggage, taking-off at 11:45 then landing back by 12nn could have taken a toll on the landing gears. Quite a quick turnback.
