I am wondering why United isn't announcing any new routes out of Madrid besides the current Newark and Washington DC (seasonal) . The US-Spain market is booming, and I am sure a seasonal Madrid- Houston and/or Madrid- San Francisco should work well in the Summer.

I hope Air India resumes service to Madrid. The Delhi-Madrid flight was stopped during the pandemic and it is pending to resume. Actually, AI resumed service to all their pre-pandemic European destinations except for MAD.

I am also surprised why United is not adding IAH to Madrid and Barcelona. What is United waiting to add a Chicago to Madrid flight. Spain is one of the fastest growing markets from the US and Madrid is one of the fastest growing cities.

Confirmed and it is opened for reservation on Iberia web, iberia will serve Caracas nonstop 3 times a week with a350. Iberia is relaunching Caracas and Rio same day from October 30, 22.

Iberia is looking to expand its new seasonal service Madrid-Male later into the Fall , as the airline is already adding more frequencies and using a larger 330 aircraft in most of their flights.

What new seasonal routes or destinations should Iberia launch next after Male?
May be is not Phuket but what others . I am sure both the IAG/Iberia management are looking at other destinations as a way to diversify markets and fill potential demand for O/D and connections.

I think Iberia may consider other destinations as Male as a way to diversify their route network and benefit from a potential demand. The same way Male came as surprise to many of us, other unexpected destinations may follow.

The only cities left in Western Europe SQ doesn't fly to is MAD and VIE. Hopefully they will be inaugurated soon. MAD should follow Brussels....as SQ used to fly to MAD in the past...MAD is also the most premium destination in Spain...and also a big tourist destination..even with the ME3 operating ...

Iberia is also getting the A321LR , hopefully, they will be used to open new routes in North America and Africa to strengthen Iberia's Madrid-Barajas Airport hub . I think a fifth freedom route that should work well is this one, there is not currently service between Madrid and Houston.

AM is not shifting any flights from MAD
BCN flights are new flights and they don’t affect MAD flights
summer flights from MAD are 16-18 per week
BCN are not 3 daily, they starting with 3 times per week

I could see 3x weekly CPT winter only work. Perhaps on the days when LGWCPT and MADJNB aren't operating (257). Definitely , MAD-CPT on IB 3X should perfectly work. I believe MAD-CPT should be on the table for IAG/IB as a coming new long-haul from MAD. Another one, I see working MAD-MCO on Norwegian .

The chances of IB establishing a hub in BCN are zero. Even if IAG (London) saw some potential in that, IB would block it from the start.
