Re: United Airlines Fleet Discussion - 2024

Are the 787-8’s used in any special way or pattern of use these days? They don't fly them to Asia anymore because they are now in a less premium configuration than the other 787s and the 777-200 and -300. They're mostly used on lower yield routes to Europe, Africa, AMM, and South America (although ...

Re: Delta Air Lines Network - 2024

How is the PPT route doing anyhow, and might we see DL look to NAN too at some point? I have a hunch that UA starts SFO-NAN in a few years, using the same strategy when they initially started SFO-PPT, thrice weekly using a 787-8. I think it would be favourable for UA as Fiji Airways does not have a...

Even the 737-900ER is a better CASM performer than the 757-300, though it's pretty close. On a pure operating cost basis, the A321neo and MAX9 handily beat it. Thrust is a pretty big factor because engine out performance is very important. The 77L has 18% more thrust with a 8% higher MTOW. This answers your own question. From a specific airport such as JNB, MTOW is not a factor. It is the weather (air density) for every and each plane. Since A350-1000 is hit more with altitude restrictions (as % reduction of TOW compared to MTOW), it's not going for full pax&bags on the route. It...

I assume it will be the 322 tonne version given it begins deliveries late next year? What type of ...
