I seriously feel that such things should be taught in school (at least, they're not here in the UK).

I also rent, and I really should be an owner by now, but I wouldn't have the first clue about what to look for in mortgages etc. I have no idea about the buying process.

I understand about retrofitting, and I understand about the majority of passengers not caring about all the fine details. But what about those who pay for Business and First class? Well yeah, there's those reasons, but also...

- gravity
- time zones
- the moon and the tides
- round the world trips that are all eastbound or westbound and end up back at the starting point
- and MUCH more

I just find it interesting they weren’t incorporated into the design initially back in 1995. The 747-400 was designed before the 777 and it had them. I’m no aeronautical engineer, but it surprises me the wing tips on the original -200s and -300s were just plain. I may be wrong, but it may be to do ...

I joined Mensa last year. It may sound big headed to mention it but I tend to keep myself to myself and live a private life so I don't drone about it at all, even though I was very proud of myself to receive the results letter and the invite to join. Good news re Andy Hill's acquittal. Again I think this was sabotage, of the altimeter, which I suspect was reading about 300ft too high. I know QF have managed to make the current spec 789 work on their Perth to London flights, but I wonder if they'll be interested in this increase to make margins a bit more comfortable. Especially if it's just paperwork changes to increase MTOW.
