Re: Inaugural QF MEL-PER-LHR this Saturday 24 March

How does QF deal with the Curfew at LHR? I understand that movements are based on noise levels. The 787 should be fairly quiet on arrival. Will they be allowed to land at 03:30? I have seen on FR24 that aircraft have circled to wait for the lifting of the curfew. QF9 wouldn't have the fuel for that...

Only 3 hours into a 17+ hour flight and already at 350. That's amazing. Yes it is amazing. Considering EY487 which departed PER about 2 hours before QF9 is currently sitting at FL360 And the same equipment too! Is it a configuration thing? Remember QF only have 236 seats vs EY's 299. I think you will find that normal people (enthusiasts) don't sit watching a Go-pro UNEDITED video for 17 hours, especially when it's pitch black inside and outside the cabin. Take off, landing and maybe a snap shot of the meal (max 5 minutes) would be quite enough for 99.9% of enthusiasts. I think ...

FR24 business accounts show indicated airspeed fed directly from the flight deck instruments. https://i.imgur.com/FIDEux4.jpg The IAS indicator recorded an airspeed of 784 knots when the groundspeed was just 380 knots. Unless the aircraft suddenly encountered a 400knot tailwind, the instruments were...

Firstly ADS-B data, sampled at 10 sec intervals, is going to be quite suspect in these extreme circumstances. Somebody else can give you the technical reasons, I don't pretend I know every detail. FR24 does show indicated airspeed data on their business accounts. In the last few minutes of the flight, the IAS data seemed to fluctuate between 400 and 900kts as it climbed through 4,000ft up to 6,000ft. Just before the descent begins it is showing an IAS of 898kts. Clearly erroneous but could th...

As someone who has never been to SXM, what's to stop them extending the runway the other way and moving the threshold back a few hundred meters?
