Absolutely revolting. Shame on United and Delta. No, just shame on United. Delta parked their N661US open for people to see, United has no such thing. Delta has announced a retirement flight between LAX and DTW a rather affordable route as far as what 747s normally fly, AFAIK, UA hasn't announced s...Jump to post
This 12 year old thread makes me miss Philsquare, Slamclick and Hawk. Back when this site was great. For a second I thought they were all back, but then realized it was a zombie thread.
Luckily Starlionblue is still here. One of the last greats still around.

Boarded a LH 747 via handstand in TLV. That was amazing. I was a bit rushed and couldn't appreciate it fully because if a security incident. But still the greatest boarding I have ever had. I have also done hardstands on DL 764 in CDG, AA 738 in BZE (rear stairs), a A320 in Cairns, Australia (rear s...Jump to post
Self driving cars will ruin destinations less than 12 hours drive time as people will be able to sleep overnight while the car drives. Cars will also have seats that look more like first class with full recline. Thus this will eliminate a lot of short hop flying and proportionally most will be over ...Jump to post
I wonder if Alaska pays better and therefor gets the more senior employees. Not sure if that is how it works in that industry or not.Jump to post
Before I had a PPL, my instructor and I were flying two people back from ILG in a Cirrus SR22 in IMC. I might have had 30 hours at this point. At one point I was the only one awake for about 45 minutes. Still one of the best flights I have ever completed, but this was far more dangerous than what PI...Jump to post

Nothing like AirBNB or Uber will upset airline travel. What WILL upset airline travel are self driving cars. If you could leave work on Friday and have your car drive you for 14 hours while you sleep, that opens up a lot of travel opportunities that are way cheaper and more convienent. It won't put ...Jump to post
Agree. The go around isn't really scary. But what I am curious about is that I don't believe SXM has an ILS and this seems pretty low visibility for Visual Approach. What makes you think there isn't another published instrument approach procedure just because there isn't an ILS? Instead of being co...Jump to post

Two fire units from ATL Airport responded to a very bad freeway fire that collapsed an overpass about 15 miles north of ATL. I would think that would reduce capacity of ATL - or maybe even close it. How many of these huge "Fire Engines" do they have and what is the minimum number needed? I...Jump to post
The conclusion of this to me are: 1) Nosey people shouldn't post on Twitter 2) United has the right to enforce any policy they want on non-rev 3) United also should find a new Social Media team 4) Delta's Social Media team is hilarious I tip my hat as they win the internet today. https://twitter.com...Jump to post
I was amazed before they couldn't the plane stopped or airborne with a 50kt headwind. Now with this detail, the headwind probably saved everyone's lives. 177KIAS with no head wind is 177 ground. 177KIAS with 50 kts headwind is 127 ground. I can imagine what an extra 10 kts in this situation would ha...Jump to post
Tampa definitely improving. LGA. More Denver and BWI.
Hoping the Denver options carry through November to drive up non-stop capacity a bit as the current UA non-stop for Thanksgiving is $777 per ticket for a family of four: a bit pricey.
That's pretty bad. 35G50 almost on the nose and you still couldn't stop. There ground speed would have been almost 25% slower than "normal" and they still couldn't stop. Short of brake/hydraulic failure I wonder what could have caused this. Even brake or hydraulic it makes you question why...Jump to post
I am more of a Delta flyer usually, but I will say that United as a whole I feel has the worst carry on bag policy of all the majors and is why I avoid them like the plague now. I was the weird minority that was all in favor of checked bag fees, so I am hardly a "everything for the passenger wh...Jump to post
Ps the only time I have seen a private jet taxi down a runaway to bypass the line was the Secretary of the Navy passing a very long line of other private jets at Oxford, MS airport after an Alabama / Ole Miss game. Or wake turbulence avoidance. I believe I have seen RJs go in front of us at larger airports (like ATL) that have multiple holding lanes on the taxiway. I always assumed it had to do with wake turbulence avoidance.Jump to post
I for one thought the old airliners.net model of free for anyone to read but to post required a premium membership was perfect model. One no other site I knew of. I am glad to hear this. I heard on the radio LH advertising - which really sounded like an add buy by TPA and not LH because the quality wasn't very good - and my first thought was crap, LH must be struggling at TPA. I haven't flown it yet. We were going to take it this Jan, but decided on Vermont i...Jump to post
United1 - the last name method of Delta / AA is by far more preferred than the having to know the FF number of United. Yes and United's move is incredibly annoying and unnecessary. Banks and email accounts (Gmail) use username and password login and they are secure and I have a LOT more concern about my bank account and email than my frequent flyer account. United's move reaks of IT panic over nothing. Doing the eas...Jump to post

I agree about the food at TPA but they are working on improving that. I am surprised about the satellite terminals comment though. I agree about TPA. It has been an amazing airport to fly out of. I have flown all but 5 of the large and I think TPA is the best (and no it wasn't originally my home airport). I think what hurts TPA is restaraunts. Especially in Delta terminal. But once they get the remod done, that should improve. ...Jump to post

Flying AA from CLT to CLE tomorrow to catch game 2 of what will hopefully be the Cubs second win. However, my flight into CLE on Tuesday is when Game 1 is going on. I am confident I am on a A319 that has live TV. But I can't tell if it has Fox as an option. Does anyone know?Jump to post
I have done all but BUR. DCA approach is the best by far. SNA takeoff is the best by far. EYW is probably the worrisome as it is the least amount of error and a Captains only approach for what I hear. Typical A.Net overreaction hysteria by not reading the comment correctly. IF the FA calls for the evacuation, I am in agreement you evacuate. Am I the only one who isn't bothered by a 17 minute evacuation? It was very cold outside, no fire. Wouldn't a reasonable person assess the bigger risk to health was the cold and potential run in with emergency crews. Also, I don't get how the thrust reversers would reduce rudder effectiveness. This makes me sad for a couple of reasons. It's one more 747 that is retired, and they are such a beauty to fly on.
