Re: Does the A330-900neo burn less fuel than the A350 or 787!?

Does the A330-900neo burn less fuel than the A350 or 787!? I'm wondering why DL has a subfleet of the A330-900neo instead of more A350's. I think its because the A330-900neo is lighter than the A350. What about versus the 787? I'm trying to understand DL's decision making on the A330-900neo versus ...

Yes, you are correct. There are currently 60 active 88s and 29 90s. The 88s are supposed to drop to 44 by the end of 2019. There are still 4 more A321s to be delivered this year and a few A220-100s.

I really hope Delta decides to replace the older IFE on some of the 752s and 738s. I was on a 752 yesterday and so many complained because the touch screens barely even worked. Mine was stuck on the moving map the whole trip. It’s time for those screens to go.

Has anyone looked at the number of deliveries they have coming in between now and 2023? I see no way the 88s or 90s are around by then unless they plan on growing the fleet by 75-100 frames. I'm making a prediction: 717s will be the only T-tail in the fleet in 5 years.

They were forced to take 10 additional 739s per the terms of their contracts with Boeing. The original order was for 120 frames and it is now 130 with the final frames to be delivered in 2019.

Don't forget they also have 45 firm orders for A350-900s. That may help replace some of the 763s. I know the A350 is a bigger plane, but my point is they already have a lot of wide bodies on order when you add in the 787-10s and a few 777-300ERs still to be delivered.

The 717 was not minimal for FL, it was the majority of their fleet. They had 88 717s and 52 737s at the time of the WN acquisition. Fleet commonality plays less of a role than eliminating a competitor.
