The problem with MT is that due to the lack of A330's they incure massive delays when there are technical problems. They have MYT stuck in LA with BD positioning out tomorrow and the JFK taking a delay due to the reshuffle. The other airlines with their bigger fleets can mitigise any delay alot easi...

All netting should be done up, it is a legal requirement when signing the LIR and when passing the checks through to the flight deck. The hold should be made Inop if these are not in place

QF 787-9 Question

Okay with QF launch the 787-9 with plans to fly direct from PER-LHR, my question is how is it going to be feesably possible. I get that some seat will be removed etc but I still dont believe that will be enought especially with differing winds on each leg. Does any one have any insight into this?

In one of my previous roles, I looked at the payload restrictions out of JNB for the 789 it worked out at a 12t-19t deficit depending on the time of the day so this could be a genuine problem but that JNB not LAS.

They're not doing it because of crew rest issues, having an additional set of cabin crew is cheaper than keeping a $300 million asset (BA LH) on the ground for 14 hours. Having dispatched QF, I would recommend them, the fact their are only to flights a day means you get the full qantas experience with airline reps and dedicated ground staff, compared to BA where they are handling multiple flights. One daily rotation with the A343/A333/A346 connects IAG Cargo at LHR with MAD, both main hubs as well as passengers connecting to respective long haul. Same reason AY use the A350 from HEL, mainly for cargo. As well when the AY832 was on the A321 it was always ful.l I literally couldnt fit anymore ...

Apparently BA are monitoring the MAN situation closely, especially with how VS are getting on. Its just a rumour I heard but who knows. Give it a few years and we may see some movement on their behalf.

It's notable that Virgin Little Red closed their Manchester route well before the Edinburgh and Aberdeen ones.
You can't force airlines to fly a route if they lose money on it.

The MAN slots were VS own LHR slots the ABZ and EDI given to them by the commision thats why the MAN route was axed first

It really disapoints me how little effort BA have put in with regards to the ammendments they have made to the aircraft. Compared to London 2012 where some aircraft were painted in the firebird and dove liveries. A bit of paint to the nose and some stickers is pathetic compared to other airlines.

Boeing would need a "2nd EK" to come along and to commit to several year's production of this niche aircraft for the business plan to come together. I think EK would actually consider a MOM aircraft as they could reach some untapped markets that wont even suit the A330 replacement aircraft...
