Re: Irish 3/24: If the cap doesn't fit ...

Still somewhat aghast by the LGW decision. That’s ~900 seats per day in each direction to/from London gone overnight. The revenue team over at FR HQ can look forward to some upward-sloping charts on LGW. For along time in the 90’s and 00’s, was EI the only operator on DUB-LHR and BA only operated L...

I’d be inclined to agree, Ireland is becoming more multicultural with different festivals to celebrate and also for people who do celebrate Christmas, it may not be as important to them as it was their forbears that the world must stop for it. In years to come, I think a skeleton service could be ru...

Would it be too late to acquire a used A333 for April/May? Unless they’re in the process of leasing one already. Hard to say, I suppose if they have gone through the procurement process for refitting EIK/EIL ready for the next summer season, would it be too much of a stretch to imagine they could h...

DEN was being rumoured at some stage last year so wouldn’t be a huge surprise. Though the fleet would be getting very tight if they put this in on top of MSP. I still wonder what benefit the XLR will be to EI as discussed recently MSP was the only obvious route an XLR could serve that an LR couldn’...

I suppose with EI-GEY coming back, in theory once it has finished covering for the cabin refit for EI-EIK/EIL, it could be put on the EWR route or one of the IAD rotations to free up an A321LR?

Regarding EI-GEY, I believe it’s due back into DUB tomorrow. It has spent longer being prepared for re-entry into service compared to DUO and DAA because it needed a full landing gear replacement - arrived in BOD on May 24th so must be a complicated job. I think the others came back into service di...

In terms of having a synergy, I see them as a better fit for IAG. If the rumours are to be believed about EI getting A339’s, going alongside the A321LR’s the two would have very similar fleets. Reported elsewhere; A332 EI-GEY has positioned from Ciudad Real to Nimes (where I believe sister A332’s EI-DAA and EI-DUO are). Allegedly, according to the ever infallible Twitter, it is going back into service (although there are rumours to the contrary) - time will tell on that one.

I have seen it reported that certification for the XLR has been delayed to early 2024. So, I think if EI are to make any expansion in DUB next year, these A332’s will be essential - an A333 back from MAN (as discussed) wouldn’t go amiss either.
