What is really needed is an African open skies agreement...and then for countries to emulate Ethiopia in managing their airlines (or have it privately done as Kenya Airways and Air Mauritius are). Not every country can support a major hub, and that has to be recognized. A Pan-African open-skies wou...Jump to post
Interestingly enough, this looks like it’s going to make the 77W from NRT sit on the ground for 21+ hours at LAX. Also, including direct one stop no change if plane services, this makes SFO 31 flights per week. That’s insane.Jump to post
Lots of people are making guesses, but only a few have the right answer. They keep saying and people keep not listening. By far the main reason is connecting banks and timing for hubs. All the flights from the Western Hemisphere, especially the US and Canada, and the earliest flights from the EU arr...Jump to post

I have no doubt that the moderator will remove my comment but I'm going to say it anyhow. I may be wrong but my assumption is that the native language of the OP is not English, rather a language that assigns gender to all nouns. If that is the case, congratulations for posting in English. I know many people from Westchester that have also used Norwegian from SWF, and it’s very convenient for people in Mt. Kisco, Edgemont, even White Plains and Scarsdale. SWF takes less time to get to than JFK or EWR, and I’ve heard nothing but praise.Jump to post
Very informative! I made a gcmap of all the flights. http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=ORD%2CLAX-SIN%2CIAH-SYD%2CSFO-SIN%2CEWR-HKG%2CLAX-MEL%2CEWR-BOM%2CORD-HKG%2CLAX-SYD%2CSFO-TLV%2CSFO-SYD%2CEWR-PVG%2CEWR-DEL%2CORD-PVG%2CSFO-HKG%2CIAD-PEK%2CSFO-CTU%2CEWR-PEK%2CIAD-NRT%2CEWR-NRT%2CIAH-NRT%2CORD-PEK%2CLA...Jump to post
There are already flights from CTU to JFK, LAX, and SFO. I’m not sure about their choice of BOS, as it is a relatively small city, but Boston is a very global city (just look at how many flights to Asia it already has). I think that with some help from the Sichuan government, this flight will do Alr...Jump to post
Maybe they should put their 787s during the inter that aren’t flying from Europe to the Canaries and Spanish Islands... at least that would actually make money.Jump to post
By the way, does anyone know what happened to RwandAir's planned KGL-BOM-CAN service?Jump to post
"Last July the airline began the process of requesting the right to operate service to the US, with the intention to start service by August 2018. That’s now a step closer to being a reality, as RwandAir has received permission from the DOT to operate flights to the US. The East African reports...Jump to post
The best, but not the cheapest and possibly the wildest. Build another runway EWR over by the railroad tracks. Extend 29/11 while you are at it. Close LGA Build 2 new runways at JFK. One north of 13l/31r and one south of 13r/31l in Jamaica bay. Dedicated high speed subway to downtown Manhattan and ...Jump to post

That and HPN.
I thought White Plains had closed??
At first made me think of HPN but there are nearly 1,000,000 people in Westchester County alone, and the entire New York market is massive and also served by three airports, yet HPN continued to struggle, so I would say it’s a big fat NOPEJump to post
America’s issue is it’s reluctance to try high speed rails... I was in Shanghai and had no issue getting from the city to PVG for a flight. If NYC builds a new airport, if it builds a high speed rail it would be okay. The question would just be where. Likely it would be built south if Long Island, b...Jump to post

Lisbon deserves a special mention. At nearly 27M pax in 2017 it does have a full length taxiway, but each part on a different side of the runway. To reach the treshold of runway 21 planes must cross it. I'm pretty sure those are different taxiways so LIS definitely counts. I wouldn't count it. Yes,...Jump to post
I was scrolling through Wikipedia and found that Malta airport carried over 6,000,000 passengers last year, however MLA does not have full length taxiways, and as such requires backtracking followed by a 180 in the runway before takeoff or after landing. LTN had almost 16,000,000 pax yet also doesn’...Jump to post
Its possible they could demolish 13-31 and build a new terminal or satellites there, to the west of the current terminals, or if they are okay with doing reclamation in the sea to the west, thats another option. Alternatively, they could try something north of 8L-26R.Jump to post
This is not Primera’s only routes. I bekiev they have a decent sized network in Europe of charters and scheduled flights with 737s and have had them for a while now. So this is just some new toutes operatied by a relatively established airline. They’re not just opening up shop for this, they’ve alre...Jump to post

How does one get there?!
So are you asking which airline has the most distinct routes? Like you would count PDX-JFK, PDX-LAX, PDX-ATL, etc. And then also LAX-JFK, ATL-JFK, ATL-LAX, etc.?Jump to post
This is very hypothetical, but this wouldn’t happen in real life anyway. Also what’s the point of this? Are you just trying to figure out if people prefer chicken or Turkey?Jump to post
Wow, that’s confusing! May I ask why another CA subsidiary is necessary? I think here are enough chinese small airlines as it is.Jump to post
The last couple of posts have hit it ok the nail... In based in NYC and in February a few years ago it was cheaper to go to Italy and ski then to go to Colorado. I wonder where all those traffics could possibly be going through DXB from FRA, CDG, and AMS. From LHR most likely India, Australia, and BKK, but what about the rest?
