Most of that makes sense, although I imagine it could end up being more fluid than set out in the article.

What does not make sense is to repaint G-CIVB and then take her our of service a few months later. Try explaining that to IAG shareholders.

Highly likely the aircraft are summer-only leases from Titan Airways or someone like SmartLynx, just like last year. Jethro's (http://www.jethros.org.uk) is now listing that G-POWN, G-POWU, G-POWV and an unspecific A321 from SmartLynx will be leased to Jet2 this summer... to be based at STN and BHX...

Jet2 leased a few last year and I would guess they are doing the same this year if they are going to add A321's to the fleet. Yes Flybe does have a future. The losses are coming down and their revenue is going up and the amount they earn per passenger that they earn is going up. BHX have a drop off car park which is free for 30 minutes, but it's 5 minutes walk from the terminals.

If you want to use the nearer premium drop off, its £2 for 10 minutes.

At least they give you a choice.

I believe that the demise of Monarch has caused problems for Gibraltar, as their flights from UK regional airports have not yet been taken up by other carriers.

I think that EK at least will be relevant for a long time to come.

They provide a huge range of one stop options and particularly for secondary European airports, there is no viable alternative on the horizon.

EK virtually fill 2 x 615 seat A380's every day from BHX.

I would not be so dismissive about the industry throwing up warning signs. You have established procedures and agreements in those countries to ease the movements of parts around the globe. I've seen it stated more than a few times that Emirates NEEDS the A380. Why does it need that jet over other high capacity jets? Their 2 class 77W seats something like 427 people and the 3 class seats 360. Best thing about every other widebody is that you can serve more destinations than the A380. ...
