Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2019

SAN is suffering from the same problem that airports all over the world are suffering from. They are using the runway which is great for flights of 500 miles or greater and cluttering it up with short range flights. We need practical planes (possibly turboprops) which can take off using VTOL and fl...

Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2019

Speaking of the military not allowing civilian operations, I recently found out that March ARB has Prime Air flights. Granted, there's only like 3 destinations from there (and doesn't guarantee that the military would even entertain sharing any of their SD County bases), but still.

Clicking around that project I found that they paid a fee corresponding to 1,747 square feet. How big is the old UA lounge space? Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2019

I would rather take a rideshare directly to the front curb of the new Terminal 1. Who wants to deal with a tram from downtown or Midway Dr? That would just be slower and more complicated. If someone can afford the price of an airline ticket then they should be able to afford the cost of a rideshare...

If I'm remembering correctly, the lounge will be on the third level above gates 46 and 47. It'll be west facing. Slight change of subject: who knows, maybe someday the airport will build some sort of observation deck/viewing platform somewhere on the roof of one of the terminals for folks like us to watch the airside activities from outdoors, and from above! There are not enough gates in T2W to handle all of the planned international flights. I believe only four gates are connected to FIS. There will be a gate shortage when T2E gets demolished.
