And the arguments for that are
more like FUD repeating known facts with some inappropriate statistics.
I am far away to defend FAA‘s and SW‘s behavior, but this kind of political influenced statements is for sure not helpful for aviation safety.

I'm surprised they don't go 3-4-3 in Economy for shorthaul use. Not sure they can do so and stay within the 440-seat Exit Limit as the new configuration is 391. Indeed, if you check p.11-12 of the TCDS the maximum for D2-D3 is 180 or with A+ 190. So for 20 rows there you are limited with 9 abreast....

I would wait for the audited figures - often there are contractual deliveries that are not flown away. So there is a chance that it will be slightly higher. The longest A380 flight from DRS to SYD, took of from a runway which is just 9351 ft long. The aircraft was likely at fuel limit, but without any load, so I expect it to be just 25-50t below MTOW.
