I have a question but im not sure if it was asked in this thread and I don't really have the time to look. but with the rebranding didn't that kill off metrojet? or was metrojet a product of the merger? I flew them once out of TPA as a kid, and thought the red paintjob was pretty snazzy.

my biggest beef with the media is when they say stuff like "we were on the runway for so and so hours" when if fact they were on a ramp or taxi way. I wish they would use the correct terminology even though most people don't know the difference between a ramp and runway.

best bet would be to track it on fligtradar24. Eva flies from LAX/SFO/SEA(?)/ORD(?) to Taipei. So you probably wont know until the day before it flies. I wish I would have known about FR24 when I was trying to hitch a ride on Shamu on WN.

I would loved to see G4 offer more west coast services from PIE. TZ used to fly to LAX/LAS with thru service to Hawaii. Southeast Airlines, and Sunjet International flew to LAS from PIE, im not sure how successful they were, given not many people ever heard of those airlines before.

Im going to the grand opening on Wednesday. I'm told the new hangar will hold 8 738's. I'm surprised they're building one in HOU instead of at DAL, maybe there's no room to build a hangar at DAL? Anyone else going to attend the opening ceremonies at 1400?

Wouldn’t the extra boarding door offset the weight to the port side? Wouldn’t that affect the symmetry of the fuselage? I always thought thought a boarding door was always exact opposite each other the counter weight the other.

I think the mods Should change the name
of the thread to the SRQ thread as 90% of the posts are related to SRQ and ignoring PIE/RSW/TPA/ZPH/LAL.

Not trying to bash SRQ it’s a lovely airport and I’m glad to see it grow, but the the title is misleading.

Crazy that they had a daily flight arrival from TPA back then. The current Skyway Bridge was opened in 89 and traffic wasn't bad back then, it was probably only a 45 minute drive from TPA to SRQ.
