It's been a little over 6 years since I was on the CRJ, but isn't APR Automatic Performance Reserve? That kicks in when one engine drops below a certain N1 value (eg, failing or failure). A normal go around with both engines operating normally didn't kick in APR. How do you "manually" eng...Jump to post
In the event of a go-around all we need to do is make a simple maintenance logbook entry to account for the extra pressurization cycle. If we needed full thrust (APR thrust in the CRJ) then that’s an additional cycle. As far as gear wear goes that based on flight hours. If there’s a question about l...Jump to post
I guess you could count all those small US regional airports that get embraers and CRJs Or a couple of European LCC terminals depending on how you define "tiny and uncomfortable terminals"... http://www.aboutkos.co.uk/images/kos%20airport%20que.jpg http://www.airlinequality.com/wp-content...Jump to post
Anybody know how the AUS routes are going?
Walking through the terminal in BUF I saw a delayed AUS flight filling up the gate area. A completely subjective - nearly irrelevant - observation but that’s what I saw.
So which carrier is tops at AUS now, based on avg seats per day, and which airlines follow? Historically it's been WN, followed by AA but with the DL/NW merger and the aforementioned 21% jump YOY by DL...surely the positions may have shifted significantly. DL is set up to overtake UA in the next ye...Jump to post
Just curious as to what was the reasoning for the number of rerouted flights into BDL from both Kennedy and Newark yesterday 4/28. Pretty much all day. The weather was clear. Anybody know what was happening? There was heavy fog throughout the morning at JFK at least. RVR’s were hovering around 500-...Jump to post
“Nearest airport in point of time” doesn’t necessarily mean the nearest airport by distance.
It would be a moot point if the facility doesn’t have air stairs to service the aircraft.
...And yes you could blow slides but you’re putting everybody at further risk.
Listening to the ZNY controller tape, it sounds like the pilots aren't aware yet of the catastrophic damage yet. Obviously flying the airplane is the most important thing at this early point, but at any time, particularly after they had stabilized from the rapid decent, would one of them leave the ...Jump to post
See how that goes, and maybe somewhere down the road, if AUS meets their expectations, they may be thinking HUB. Which could possibly lead to much more of a footprint there. Let’s not do this again. The next 15-20 posts will be angry people telling you not in a million years. I’m an AUS/SAT/DL fan ...Jump to post
What would be the point of building an airport between San Antonio and San Marcos? San Marcos is closer to AUS than Round Rock or Georgetown. It's not much further from AUS than parts of Fort Worth are to DFW. The point is it would be 35 minutes closer to San Antonio than AUS. This is all hypotheti...Jump to post
Regarding an AUS/SAT joint airport: I believe San Antonio has reached out on a preliminary level about a joint airport. Austin has very much shot it down. While San Antonio is weighted to the north as far as sprawl (much of it is within 30-45 minutes of San Marcos) so is Austin. Round Rock and Georg...Jump to post
I recall that the BOS, RDU and SEA flights were posted on AUS/ABIA’s Facebook by the following day or two. Nothing on CVG and more interesting nothing on the SkyClub. Those ads in the terminal have been up for 6 weeks now.
Or we’re reading way too into it. This is A.net after all...
It’s clear that DL wants to be a big player in AUS. It’s been growing 25% annually for at least a couple years now. AUS will likely reach 20 million pax/yr by 2025 and DL is aiming for a majority of that growth. It looks to be on track to overtake UA within a couple years. That being said let’s not ...Jump to post
I wonder if DL would consider turning AUS into a full blown hub? I could see a hub the size of SLC eventually taking shape. Ran the numbers, looks like for July 2018 AUS will see YOY growth of 17.83% from DL. So that is certainly a sign that DL wants to grow at AUS, full blown hub though...nah. Foc...Jump to post
Delta has added AUS-CVG beginning May 1, operating 6x/wk on a CR7. The route was cut in 2011, nice to see it back. It was probably the most glaring hole in DL's AUS network being the only DL hub not served. Also worth noting that the outdoor patio lounge as part of the east terminal expansion will ...Jump to post
How do IND and AUS fit when the overwhelming majority of destinations are hubs/focus cities? If you consider RDU a focus city, the only true point-to-point flying out of IND (much as it is with CMH) is MCO/RSW/MIA and AUS doesn't even have any point-to-point. The first step has been made. Recently ...Jump to post
I can say it’s a problem for the US and Mexico database at least. At our operation it is affecting only our newer Collins units.Jump to post
Also I know AUS has been mentioned, which would make sense considering most airlines have a hub or focus city in Texas(even AS has a focus city in TX). DL certainly could do better in TX. There was some (online) talk (rumors) about a tripling of departures (25 to 70ish) within the next 24 months ti...Jump to post
Supposedly , and this is only a rumor, but someone said that Delta wanted at least 6 of the 8-9 new gates being built. It's hard to believe and I think it probably was something botched from someone saying they wanted to fly out of 6 of the new gates, so perhaps they'd be CUTE and not used exclusiv...Jump to post
The only issue I've sometimes seen is that someone opens one and another person is standing below and it hits them, but that should be avoidable. I hit my girlfriend in the head twice on a trip... but yes when you get used to it they're very nice. The gate agents still make announcements about chec...Jump to post
No to AUS-SAT/Central Texas International from me, as it is being conceived. Not to point fingers, but it's mostly supported by folks closer or in San Antonio who want more accessible direct flights since they lack compared to Austin, but that's understandable. Plus the distance is just too large b...Jump to post
Was YQB served by CR2 mostly? I've been into there in the 9 a handful of times but I wonder if it's a casualty of the NYC upgauge.Jump to post
You'd think they would know that before they left the gate. Or, am I missing something? Performance data is run once they get final passenger and cargo count. This usually happens at door closure at the gate. Dispatch will plan based on booked passengers at the time and creates a fuel order off of ...Jump to post
Sightseer wrote:Delta has been quietly growing its destination count from AUS the past few years, with new service to LAX, SEA, BOS, and RDU.
The reality is that AUS and SAT serve much of the same population. Many will drive to the other for a better deal. AUS is better positioned for this since a good chunk of San Antonio is little more than an hour away. That can't be said for the Round Rock-Georgetown area north of Austin if one were t...Jump to post
That said, hold on, isn't B55 a connection gate? Are they planned on using the far end B connection gates for the Cseries potentially? As DL continues to push for exclusive two-class flying in NYC you will see more mainline flights using those gates. Endeavor's CR2 base will likely be gone by the e...Jump to post
Just a thought, did DL ever consider beating AA to the punch on DFW-AMS? KL dropped it for a reason. Before the AA service began. It would be very surprising to see DL try it. DL has a history of doing P2P flights from the US to AMS. PDX is one, and SEA and BOS were started before they became focus...Jump to post
This is but one of many incursion events that have happened recently off of 6R/24L at YYZ. I'm based in MSY, 2/20 is the most common runway used for departures For years, 29 was the most common departure runway, followed by 2. Are you sure that's changed? I would argue that the terminal extension at AUS would provide an opportunity for a small focus city operation. I just don't see how DL would want to "re-enter" the Texas market with a DFW or IAH focus city or hub for that matter. With the other three carriers having massive presence it wo...Jump to post
I think the only hope for greater DL presence in Texas would be an AUS focus city - and that's a long shot.
The DFW ship has long sailed.
I know this was already answered but I just so happen to be sitting at B51 at the moment and it has an offset line to accommodate E7/75,E9/95, CS100/300, B717, B737/8/9, A321W. The marked safety area for 51"A" extends almost to the centerline of 49. So I was mistaken from the other night w...Jump to post
The CR2's will be phased out by moving more 700/900/170/175's into NYC, so you'll just have bigger RJ's Yes but on the same token some of the "heavy" RJ flying will be replaced with 717 and eventually the CS100. I would expect to see that more out of JFK where frequency isn't as big of a ...Jump to post
The Delta Connection gates start at gate B42 and go up to B55. Delta sometimes uses some of the DCI gates for mainline aircraft as well but that usually requires them to block the adjacent gate (e.g., when B42 is used for a 738, it essentially takes out gate B44 as well). Interestingly enough last ...Jump to post
I've been thinking DTW/JFK-AUS/SAT would be prime CS100 routes. They're some of the longer blocked RJ routes in the east. Usually a 319/320 in the summer but in the winter goes all CR9/E75 and sometimes struggles with payload issues. As far as the B717 goes I've been told it has payload issues as we...Jump to post
I just looked at faremeasure.com and it shows (when it works) Austin - Indianapolis is 150 pax/day. The DOT number is certainly the more accurate indicator. Doubtful that daily nonstop service in this market is viable. Didnt NW (and maybe DL for a very short time) operate this in the '07-'09 timefr...Jump to post
DL added a number of CRJ-200 to Endeavor this year, it'll be interesting to see if they add more in response to this (long-term, there's a surplus of capacity coming into the system, but DL may not be ready to retire nearly 1/3 of its 50-seat fleet within the next year). There are plans for at leas...Jump to post
It looks like the third JFK-AUS departure is operated by Endeavor, using a CRJ-900. At 1,515 miles, this has to be the longest CR7/9 route in the DL network, no? No complaints about the addition, but wow, that's a long flight for a CR9. Actually JFK-SAT is the longest route for Endeavor (-by what? ...Jump to post
It's really not needed because so few passengers connect between airlines at JFK. The only terminals which really need to be connected for online transfers are T2 & T4, and DL offers the JFK Jitney service for that. And for international-to-domestic connections, there's no need for the terminal...Jump to post
