I was hoping for DL to add SEA at least. BOS I couldn't care less about since we have B6 and NK daily. But I think AS could go for some competition on MSY-SEA. The only thing I can think of is that it's a yield issue. There's demand for another flight, but at what price? CVG and RDU would seem to b...Jump to post

While I do agree that there are still some major North American routes to pursue, particularly PDX, MEX, SAP, and YUL, I don't think that's a good reason to not pursue European growth as well. I would disagree that we have "enough" service to Europe because now almost all of our peer airp...Jump to post
Very happy/content with LHR and FRA service. KEF is a great connecting hub for Midwest markets that can be reached with narrow bodies. Happy for MCI. Great city. I'd rather see the airport continue to pursue MEX and perhaps another Central American destination. COPA has been killing it, lately. Full...Jump to post
DL: 3x LGA and 3x JFK B6: 2-3X JFK depending on the month UA: 3-4X EWR depending on the month NK: 1X EWR So at its peak, MSY-NYC sees 14 daily departures. Largest a/c is B6 A321 (seasonally). UA runs the gauntlet, every type of 737 and Airbus, varies by day of the week. Seasonally they run E-jets on...Jump to post
I'm told Admiral's Club locations are based mostly on how many elites live in the airport area. MSY simply doesn't have enough right now. A generic, non airline specific lounge makes more sense.
AC will also be on the A terminal.
DL will be using 5 gates on the C terminal.
A friend of mine who's an agent for an airline at MSY checked in a guy today who is working on the new terminal. When my friend asked him how progress is going, the passenger didn't say anything initially before saying "well... let's just say the airport staff has demanded us not to talk about ...Jump to post
I new knew you could make an A321 look bad, but... first time for everything?Jump to post
I think the city handles crowds well, but the airport is just stretched to the max in terms of overall facilities when large conventions come to town. No excuse for vendors to run out of food, however...and that happens pretty frequently. Honestly I think the vendor management by Delaware North has ...Jump to post
PIT is a booming metro with a larger corporate base. More frequent pure business travel. It's a perfect hub for a OneJet operation. I can see them in MSY at some point from one or two markets but nothing like the operation they have in PIT. We're still a leisure oriented market, folks, with a good d...Jump to post
A few comments re: MSY-MEX * AM service in the market was initially a daily MD-80. Then it became a daily DC-9, before being replaced with a direct service via CUN for several years. AM came back in 2009 with an ERJ. Lasted about a year. * TW did horribly in the market. Plane typically had like 30 p...Jump to post
We'll have to wait and see what the overnight updates look like. Sabre clearly indicates 4X weekly starting on that date. Perhaps the 5X weekly service will just be for the peak cruise season. Or perhaps Sabre will be updated showing the 5X weekly service tomorrow.Jump to post
I'm curious if the airport will still go ahead with restaurant's from the Besh Restaurant Group in the new terminal considering the recent controversy involving Chef John Besh. I would think not. Would be interested to hear about replacement vendors. Actually, any additional info into the food/retai...Jump to post
If DE has a few more successful seasons in MSY, and if traffic continues to grow, LH could be a possibility to replace DE. Not expecting that to happen, if it does, for at least 3-5 years though. For now, I'm perfectly happy with the BA + DE lineup. It serves the market well. Personal note for Jubgu...Jump to post
BA + DE is a great lineup for a city the size of New Orleans. DE's twice-weekly service is ideal for the leisure oriented nature of the airline. If aything, I'd like to see them extend the flight season to begin in mid-February so they can bring in tourists for Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest, but perhaps ...Jump to post
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/VRD1390/history/20170921/1548Z/KSFO/KMSY After all these years, it'll be very nice seeing this livery in NOLA. This will be the second daily flight between SFO and MSY (UA has one), and the third to the Bay Area overall (WN to OAK). WN is adding a weekly flight to ...Jump to post
I've heard that MSY will get three additional destinations (in addition to the recently announced BOS/EWR/MSP/TPA) for a March or April start.Jump to post
I'd really like to see ULCC service on MSY-BNA to shake up the market a bit. The WN nonstop flights are jam packed, and if you book relatively close in, you're looking at $600 roundtrip, easily. I hope NK sets up shop in BNA soon and adds a daily nonstop.Jump to post
I hope DL doesn't start MSY-Europe. I don't want to see BA and DE suffer, which I'm sure they would in some respect if DL starts a flight, granted BA moreso. I'd like to see a MSY-CDG flight but not this soon. The nonstop European market needs time to mature. Let's revisit the idea in two years. Unt...Jump to post
Best of luck to everyone affected. Stay safe. Now my two cents... Of course Houston will recover. I don't think anyone suggested otherwise. But to suggest the city as a whole will recover in a "couple of weeks", or what have you, is being naive. We're witnessing something unprecedented her...Jump to post
This will bring NK up to 15 nonstop routes to/for MSY.
The QF flight to DFW has really opened up MSY for Aussie tourism. It's a very popular connection. I'd say a couple of dozen Aussie visitors fly out of MSY on the AA/QF codeshare daily, if I had to make a ballpark guess. Who knows how many UA gets, or DL for that matter.Jump to post
Thanks for this report. AA looks good and the 747 is always the queen of the skies! I agree Hong Kong is a great city and one with so much going on. I am travelling on the AA73 myself in a few months, but it is showing as a 789...my chance of my upgrade clearing isn't looking so good The TG 744 was...Jump to post
To get to MEM on Greyhound, you have to change buses in BTR. So the trip is longer than Amtrak and the fares are more $. It's amazing how much direct service Greyhound has cut over the years in many city pairs. Megabus couldn't even make the market work. I guess the point I was trying to make is sim...Jump to post
Re: former GLO routes... 1) MSY-HSV...we won't see nonstop service in this market again in my lifetime. Kind of a strange experiment, to be honest. I get the NASA connection, but that's about it. It needs hub feed. 2) MSY-SHV....too short of a drive. Five hours tops. I usually do it in 4h45m includi...Jump to post
Great trip report! I love that you did it inside of a week. I'm impressed that Thai offers pictures and a description of the meal choices on the PTV....even in coach. AA's J and F seats and services look pretty solid on the 77W. Nice job. Thanks! TG really impressed me in all areas. The quality of ...Jump to post
26Jul17 - 01Aug17 https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4409/35682881093_aeaa9be7f1_o.gif The trip actually started and ended in MSY but for the sake of this report, I'll just cover the flights that I actually documented in picture form. It was an amazing adventure...in the space of one week. Two nights an...Jump to post
I personally think FRA and LHR are all MSY can handle for the time being. BA is going 5X weekly in October, so clearly they must be at least relatively happy with the money they are making in MSY. The next logical step would be daily service at some point in the future. I'm pleasantly surprised that...Jump to post
Lol. Asia. Slow down, folks. I think 10 years may even be too soon. I don't think a lot of people understand how dramatically longer Asian flights are. MSY, despite doing well, isn't growing rapidly enough to even get on the radar for Asian service. Further, VFR and tourist traffic, generally, is n...Jump to post
What is next for MSY as far as International service goes? Are they trying to get flights to Asia now? I'd say Asia is at least ten years away. Most of the Asia traffic is either VFR traffic to/from Vietnam (relatively large Vietnamese population in S.E Louisiana) or workers to/from cargo ships, mo...Jump to post
