AF308 from CDG is on the way. The 77W should be landing around 1630 local time. Of course BA is due in today as well, around 1800. It’ll be pretty neat seeing both of those parked next to each other on A.

The French Airforce A332 is in town. Plenty of unique visitors lately. Of course next week we’ll see the AF 77W here on a scheduled service from CDG for a large convention in town.

BA 787-10 coming in today. It’s usually flying in on Saturdays only, so it’s nice to see the big bird make a weekday appearance.

It looks like another summer with minimal G4 service at MSY. They just have not done well here, for whatever reason. My grandparents flew MSY-LHR on a BA L15 back in 1982. The flight originated in MEX at the time. Thrice weekly.

B6 looks likes it’s going 2X daily on MSY-LGA. Interesting. That will make 6 daily nonstops to LGA by B6/WN/DL, plus add in the 4 to JFK by B6/DL, and 5 to EWR by UA/NK. NK actually flies a 321 on the EWR route now.

There will definitely be mileage award connections on the flight. Just as an example, BA sees mileage award connections via MSY every day the flight operates. They flew to MSY for about two months. I’d say about half of their scheduled flights were cxld due to no pilots. Most of the others were very late. An incredibly unreliable operation.

Weather diversion. Very low visibility in MSY all day today… dozens of diversions. Take a look at Flightradar24. Yikes.

There’s no CAT 2/3 ILS available right now, just CAT 1 and RNAV. Damage from Hurricane Ida.

Richard Branson was recently in MSY for the opening of the Virgin Hotel and he made a statement to the effect of they are seeing if they can make the numbers work when a reporter asked him if VS would ever fly to MSY. Not that I think it’ll happen, just throwing it out there. Really nice hotel, btw.

They need to build a large multi-level parking garage on the current surface lot ASAP. It’s getting to the point where every weekend, there’s no parking available at the new terminal, and the economy lot at the old terminal fills to near capacity. BNA and AUS were the two worst performing routes for NK pre-COVID out of MSY in terms of loads. Typically loads were only in the 50 to 60% range. Not super surprised those would be some of the last routes to come back. And of course, AUS has become more competitive in the meantime, with AA also fly...

Carnival officially resumes sailing to N.O on 9/5. Norwegian is returning in November, and Disney is coming back in February. Not sure about Royal since the ship they used for N.O has been scrapped. Breeze is staring “focus city” operations out of MSY today with flights to 9 cities. They fly to ten, but on any given day of operation, 9 will be served, due to frequency. It’ll be nice to see these beautiful e-jets in the daytime.
